Why does that remark bother her? She felt unexplainably upset with the count, and her mood was irritable even for a trivial comment.

Of course, she knew that the count did not mean to say that. Despite knowing, Lea was hurt.

“Tren is usually quite a nice city, although it’s a mess due to the flood right now.”

Lea replied to the count, sighing slightly.

Although she tried to suppress her emotions as much as possible, her voice was curt, perhaps because she had been holding something back.

“Of course, it’s incomparable to the palace and capital where you lived.”

Ah, she didn’t mean to give such a sharp reply.

[Well, I’m not much different.]

The count’s words kept circling in Lea’s head. Akia, who had casually responded that it was not his first kiss.

‘It was my first time!’

That the kiss was not his first. Lea had woken up abruptly from sleep remembering the absurdly stolen first kiss.

‘It’s unfair, really.’

He didn’t offer any explanation after the kiss. Not only that.

She read a subtle joy on his face when he asked if it was her first kiss.

If she didn’t see his face, her heart would have been at least comfortable. Since that day, it seemed that they were even closer than before, or maybe it was just her feeling.

Lea quickly turned around, worried that the count might discover her emotional changes.

“If you have a book you want to see, please find it. I will look at the books that will help with the development of the cure.”

“…….”

“Oh, the humanities books are on the opposite side. Then, see you!”

It was when Lea, who pointed out the humanities corner brightly, started walking towards the opposite corner.

[Dash] trudge trudge.

The sound of footsteps following her was heard. Without looking back, she knew that the person following her was the count.

‘Why is he following me even though I showed him the humanities corner?’

Lea was disturbed by the count following her from behind. Finally, she whirled around to face the count.

“Why are you following me? The books you should read are over there.”

“I’m not following you.”

“Then where are you going? This is the herbal medicine section…….”

He lifted one corner of his mouth in a smirk, laughed, and passed Lea. Then he pointed his chin towards the history corner right next to the herbal medicine corner.

“You see?”

He gave a cocky smile and disappeared inside.

.

.

.

“It’s really annoying.”

While choosing a book to read, Lea grumbled, thinking about the count.

‘If he sticks so close, who wouldn’t misunderstand?’

The count’s gaze, as if he was looking at a terminal patient, was unforgettable. Lea grumbled and lifted her gaze over the bookshelf.

The books were too high to reach. Lea, who was looking around, pulled a wooden ladder that was placed next to the bookshelf and climbed up.

“By the way, a lot of new books have come in within 5 years.”

There were quite a lot of books she hadn’t seen before. Lea took out books mainly on detoxification. Without thinking, she pulled out the books and the books she was holding were quite heavy.
Lea’s gaze, scanning for more to take, was caught by a single book.

“Proper use of poison?”

It was a book about toxic herbs. If it was placed in the detox section, it would mean making medicine with toxic herbs.

“Compounding medicine with poison? That’s new.”

Lea’s eyes sparkled with interest.

General herbology textbooks were so thick and heavy that they could be called stones. But the book she picked was thin.

‘I can read this quickly.’

It was when she was about to descend the ladder with the book in her arms.

“Tsk. I wondered why you wouldn’t come out, were you planning to bring a bookshelf?”

Akia had come right under the ladder. He was looking at Lea, who was standing with a pile of books in her arms, as if she was pathetic.

Loosening his crossed arms, Akia pointed to the bookshelf.

“Bring down only what you need. You can’t even read all of it today.”

“I can read it all. I am an exceptional speedreader.”

‘What does it matter to others whether they strip a bookshelf or read books all night.’

Akia’s lips twisted at Lea’s twisted reply.

“Really? I’ll have to see.”

He then nodded his head at Lea as if telling her to come down.

‘That look of his, saying he will keep an eye on me, is too mean.’

The smile that would have been quite decent usually looked wicked like an unscrupulous employer in the world.

It was when Lea took a step to come down the ladder. She should have stepped on the ladder, but contrary to her will, her body lost its balance and swayed.

“Ah, ah!”

Thud, the books in her arms spilled out. And Lea closed her eyes at the dizzying feeling of crashing through the air.

It would have been normal for pain to creep up, but a different touch along with a warm heat was conveyed from her fingertips.

And when she felt something hard buried between her legs was the other person’s thigh.

A very familiar voice came from close by.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
