His large hand reached out toward her, eyes locked on hers. Dan Woo had lowered himself onto one knee, bringing his posture down to her level.

“Move aside. I’ll do it.”

“Representative, I’ll handle it.”

Tae Yoon quickly lowered his stance as well. He grasped Dan Woo’s wrist and gave a small shake of his head—a silent reminder that Haesong Group personnel were present.

Ha Jun watched Dan Woo’s actions with confusion, but soon turned his gaze toward Ji An.

Unlike earlier, when Dan Woo had been mid-speech, the lights now shone brightly. Ha Jun’s eyes landed on the cheek where Eun Ji had slapped her. The redness still lingered.

Startled, Ha Jun reached out his hand.

“What happened to your cheek?”

Ji An slapped Ha Jun’s hand away with a sharp “thwack” and looked up at the three men surrounding her like a solid wall.

In that instant, the dizziness in her mind crystallized into cold clarity.

‘Just pretend you didn’t see anything. I barely pulled myself together—why does everyone rush over like it’s the end of the world?’

Ji An realized this utterly absurd situation was, in fact, her reality—so absurd it didn’t even warrant a hollow laugh.

There was only one way out of this moment: lower her head quietly and finish the task at hand.
