The sunrise over Geum Oreum was truly spectacular.

It was Ji An’s twelfth sunrise on Jeju Island.

Last night, though the sky had been cloudy, she wanted to praise herself for trusting Jeju’s fickle weather.

Once the sky regained its true color, she began to walk.

As she walked, she caught sight of Geumakdam, the crater lake of Geum Oreum. She’d heard it was a rare sight to see water pooled inside a crater.

When she spotted Hyeopjae Beach and Biyang Island, she stopped walking, unwound her scarf once, and let her face meet the cold wind.

“I could get drunk on this winter wind. I like it.”

Ji An was conquering oreums.

Jeju Island had 360 oreums, scattered east and west around Hallasan.

Each day, she followed her feet to witness both sunrises and sunsets.

Three days spent glued to her bed, determined to counter Ha Jun’s logic, had been enough rest.

Although she’d impulsively come to Jeju, she didn’t want to waste a single day.

So she started watching sunrises—and soon grew greedy, wanting to conquer even more oreums by chasing sunsets too.

There was also the reason that after visiting Seongsan Ilchulbong, she’d drawn strength from the comfort nature offered.

And, as she’d told Dan Woo, it was also a way to spend time quietly.
