Zelda dared not ask, only stared fixedly at his face.

Reading her expression, Rinel deliberately strengthened his voice and spoke:

“Unfortunately, I am indeed that Emperor of the Lapion Empire whom the Shattonil Kingdom hates. This room is now mine to occupy, starting today.”

Zelda became a doll with only blinking eyes, her mind once again blank. She silently repeated over and over: ‘Where am I? Who am I?’

Seeing her tense, unwell state, Rinel unexpectedly felt a pang of sympathy.

Thinking she needed to relax for their conversation to proceed smoothly, he even smiled and made a joke:

“If you have anything you want to ask before being dragged to the execution platform, go ahead. I’m generous enough for that.”

It was a joke he often told his close aides, but even they always wondered whether his tone and expression were serious or sarcastic.

At his chilling smile as he mentioned the execution platform, Zelda already felt her head had been severed.

She quickly clutched her own neck with both hands.

They said he was a cold, merciless Emperor—apparently, the rumors were true.

As their gazes lingered longer, Zelda’s body instinctively knelt down to her knees.

“Seeing you kneel, do you now remember what you did to me?”

“No, sir… I apologize, Your Majesty. I remember nothing at all.”
