It was Do Jun’s low, calm voice laced with a lazy sensuality.

In that brief moment, he had already wrapped his arms around Hae Joo and turned off his phone’s flashlight.

“……!”

Every hair on Hae Joo’s body stood on end.

It felt as if time had stopped; she even forgot that it was currently night.

She could feel his breath on the nape of her neck. Her already heightened senses sent a strange tension racing down her spine to the tips of her toes.

“Looks like the power went out.”

Do Jun’s arms burrowed deeper into her embrace.

There was no space left between the two people pressed even closer together.

Suddenly, a secretive groan escaped from him.

As his quickened breathing grazed Hae Joo’s nape, Do Jun answered.

“It’s been like that since I got home.”

Whenever Do Jun wasn’t home, Hae Joo always slept with the lights on. Even as an adult, pitch-black darkness where she couldn’t see an inch ahead still terrified her.

The painful memory of being trapped in a narrow bathroom came from the despair that she would never escape this darkness, even in death.

“This is different from the promise we made.”
