The Sin of Loving Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
This morning, as soon as Do Jun woke up, he immediately checked on Hae Joo’s condition. She even seemed to have a slight fever, so he had to give her fever-reducing medicine.
“What should I do?”
Of all days, an important meeting was scheduled for early Monday morning.
The U.S. FOMC announced it would raise interest rates within the month, triggering an emergency. They urgently needed to discuss the direction of their currently operating funds and stocks.
He left the house at 6:30 a.m.
After finishing the meeting and rushing back, he found a van parked in front of his house.
“Director Yoo Jin Han?”
Do Jun dashed inside.
The clock had just passed 9 a.m.
“Get your hands off her.”
Jin Han was holding Hae Joo around the waist, supporting her.
Do Jun instantly scooped her up—she looked dangerously close to collapsing at any moment.
“Representative Park Do Jun, I didn’t come here to fight.”
“I know. Please just leave now.”
“Stop being stubborn and listen to me!”
Frustrated, Jin Han shouted.
Do Jun, still holding Hae Joo, turned abruptly but then stopped.
“She’d be more comfortable lying down in the van than in a sedan!”
“I’ll handle Hae Joo myself.”
“It’s rush hour—even if you floor it, it’ll take at least 30 minutes to reach a hospital in Seoul!”
“Twenty minutes.”
“……!”
Do Jun lifted his head.
He let out a heated breath, then warned Jin Han sternly.
“Twenty minutes is enough. I’ve done it before.”
“Hey, Park Do Jun!”
Jin Han finally exploded.
He grabbed Do Jun’s arm—still clutching Hae Joo—and tried to yank her toward himself.
The situation escalated to a knife-edge tension.
Hyun Sung and Manager Song, who had been anxiously watching, stepped in to separate the two.
“My dad fell due to dementia once, and I got him to the hospital in just 20 minutes.”
“Are you kidding? Hae Joo’s an actress! If you ignore all the traffic signals and get caught, it’ll be a huge mess!”
“I won’t put Hae Joo in any danger.”
Do Jun pushed Jin Han aside and walked out the front door.
Just as Jin Han, burning with frustration, tried to grab him again, Hyun Sung stopped him.
“Director, this isn’t the time to fight.”
For a moment, Jin Han had lost his composure. His anger had boiled over at Do Jun for crossing the line in their argument.
“That’s not what’s best for Hae Joo.”
“Please be patient. What matters most is getting Hae Joo to the hospital quickly.”
“This is driving me crazy.”
When it came to driving, no one could match Jin Han or Hyun Sung—but despite that, Do Jun’s actions now left him uneasy.
As the two were about to get into the van, the sedan carrying Hae Joo suddenly sped away.
Jin Han, who had intended to hand the wheel to Hyun Sung, changed his mind.
“I’ll drive.”
Do Jun’s car vanished from the neighborhood in an instant.
At first, it seemed he’d take the same route Jin Han had come from, but then it veered onto a side road.
“Where’s he going?”
“Maybe to a hospital outside Seoul?”
The sedan that left Jin Han and Hyun Sung bewildered was being driven by Manager Song.
In the back seat, Do Jun held Hae Joo and placed his palm on her forehead.

“Hae Joo’s burning up.”
“At least the new road is paved—that’s a relief.”
Do Jun’s neighborhood had only recently attracted wealthy residents building homes there.
Though technically in Gyeonggi Province, a new road opened just days ago had made commuting to Seoul much easier.
Last time they’d taken President Park to the ER, it had still been an unpaved road, making the drive far rougher than now.
At this pace, they could reach the hospital in under 15 minutes.
“I made a mistake. I should’ve taken Hae Joo to the hospital even if it was in the middle of the night.”
“She’ll be fine, sir.”
Even now, urgent work calls kept coming in on Do Jun’s phone.
He had no choice but to answer the most pressing ones, keep the conversations brief, and hang up quickly.
Hae Joo, eyes closed, showed no sign of stirring. Despite running a fever, her hands were icy cold, trembling as if from chills.
“Lee Hae Joo, just hang in there a little longer.”
Glancing back, he saw the van chasing after them.
Do Jun wiped his visibly irritated face with his palm.
“Manager Song, look into Director Yoo Jin Han.”
“Yes, sir.”
It was increasingly uncomfortable how Jin Han kept clashing with him over every little thing.
He was meddling in Hae Joo’s private life far beyond what was acceptable, making it impossible for Do Jun to view him favorably.
Jin Han had clearly crossed the line Do Jun had set in his mind.
“Park the car and come back.”
“Yes, Director.”
Do Jun, carrying Hae Joo on his back, entered the emergency room, and the medical staff guided them to an empty bed.
“Please register her for treatment first.”
Jin Han, who had followed behind, rushed to the reception desk. Do Jun, meanwhile, gave a detailed account of Hae Joo’s condition.
“She had some champagne yesterday, and this morning she’s running a fever with body aches.”
“Her temperature is over 39 degrees Celsius—quite high.”
Amid the commotion, Hae Joo slowly opened her eyes.
She answered the medical staff’s questions about her condition, then turned to look at Do Jun.
“It’s amazing.”
“What is?”
“That someone’s actually here with me when I’m sick.”
For a moment, Do Jun’s heart sank heavily. Even after becoming an actress, it seemed Hae Joo had always endured illness alone.
“Don’t you have people from your agency?”
“Being sick is my own burden to bear.”
“So I’m different?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“Because you’re… my husband.”
Hae Joo’s faintly spoken words shook Do Jun deeply.
For the first time, she had acknowledged him as her husband.
Was this a miracle?
Yes—it absolutely was.
“I’m grateful you see me that way.”
“But legally speaking…”
“You just ruined the moment.”
“Pfft…”
Even in this state, Hae Joo let out a weak laugh. Her eyes, half-open, struggled to refocus.
Just then, Jin Han returned—and froze upon seeing Hae Joo.
He’d feared the worst, yet there she was, smiling softly at Do Jun.
Even though she was still clearly unwell…

To Jin Han, Do Jun had always seemed like a ruthless predator—cold, heartless. He’d wondered if such a man would behave any differently in private life.
Yet now, he saw an expression on Hae Joo’s face he’d never witnessed before since she arrived at the ER.
The indescribable shock left Jin Han utterly confused.
“Director?”
Hae Joo recognized Jin Han, who was standing there dazed.
Only then did Do Jun step aside, making space for him.
“You look exhausted—don’t strain yourself talking.”
“Thank you for coming.”
“It’s nothing.”
True to Do Jun’s promise, Jin Han arrived at the hospital in half the time he’d estimated.
He hadn’t known about the new road—now he did.
After receiving an injection, Hae Joo gradually began to stabilize. At this point, Jin Han felt embarrassed about having snapped at Do Jun earlier.
“Representative Park Do Jun, I was rude earlier. I apologize.”
“Forget it.”
Do Jun responded indifferently.
To someone like him, who’d survived the corporate jungle, that kind of argument was just routine.
What truly concerned him, however, was how closely involved Jin Han was with Hae Joo. If this kept happening, Hae Joo would be the one suffering.
“How are you feeling, Hae Joo noona?”
Just then, Hyun Sung arrived after finishing parking.
Seeing Hae Joo’s pale face, he looked deeply worried.
“You’ll be okay.”
“You must’ve pushed yourself too hard. Take this chance to rest properly.”
“Thank you.”
“Mr. Jin Han and I should head back now. Director, shall we go?”
Jin Han glared fiercely at Hyun Sung, as if questioning what he was talking about.
Ignoring him, Hyun Sung just winked at Hae Joo and dragged Jin Han away.
“Please take good care of her, Representative. I’ll see you again.”
Reluctantly, Jin Han turned and left, his steps heavy and unwilling.
He hadn’t even had a chance to say goodbye to Hae Joo before being pulled out, so he grumbled.
“What’s gotten into you all of a sudden?”
“It was obvious we didn’t belong there.”
“What?”
“I know it was because of Hae Joo noona, but honestly—we entered someone else’s house without permission.”
Upon hearing Hae Joo was unwell, Jin Han had dropped everything and rushed over immediately.
He’d brought Hyun Sung to Do Jun’s house and frantically rung the doorbell.
Luckily, the housekeeper had come out.
She’d said she couldn’t let outsiders in without Hae Joo’s approval first.
Yet Jin Han had stubbornly barged inside anyway.
“The situation left no choice.”
“Of course! …Still, if Representative Park finds out what we did, it could put Hae Joo in an awkward position—so let’s just go for today.”
At Hyun Sung’s request, Jin Han finally calmed down somewhat.
Back in the car, he watched the hospital grow distant as he reviewed Hae Joo’s schedule.
“I wonder if she’ll be okay for the fashion show on Friday?”
“We’ll need to see how Hae Joo noona’s condition is.”
“It’d be a shame to cancel—I personally received an invitation too.”
“Really? That’s great.”
Although GN Entertainment had a salaried managing director, his influence was minimal. In reality, Yoo Jin Han controlled all major decisions.
He was the youngest son of Chairman Yoo, head of GN—one of Korea’s top-five conglomerates. GN held significant power across food, entertainment, and retail, wielding broad cultural influence.
Passionate about the entertainment industry, Jin Han had joined GN Entertainment from the ground up even before it was acquired by GN.
Now, he was widely recognized as the de facto leader of GN Entertainment.

“Last night, the Representative notified us he’s starting a new company and leaving.”
“So President Park has finally made that decision.”
GN had acquired the current agency and rebranded it as GN Entertainment. Having expanded the company so dramatically with vast capital, Jin Han felt deeply attached to it.
“Hyun Sung, keep a close eye on Hae Joo.”
“I’ll do my best.”
“Not that kind of effort.”
“What do you mean?”
Before Hae Joo shot her first film, Jin Han—despite his busy schedule—had strongly urged her to enroll in university. He’d insisted she enter, even if she had to take a leave of absence afterward.
He intended to shape Hae Joo’s career into one of top-tier prestige, crafting an image of an actress so formidable that no one would dare underestimate her.
“It’s about Hae Joo and Representative Park Do Jun. If those two get too close, it’ll be problematic.”
“Yes, Director.”
In Jin Han’s family, a prospective daughter-in-law was meticulously evaluated based on education, family background, and more.
If Hae Joo met those criteria, he was ready to pursue her seriously.
But then, out of nowhere, a marriage scandal erupted.
The one silver lining was that, as the youngest son, he faced less family pressure than the eldest. As long as Hae Joo broke things off with Do Jun, he still had a chance.
On his way back to the office, Jin Han called Yoon Ji.
What’s the matter?
“Since Director Kwak is narrowing down audition applicants, contact him yourself.”
What’s your intention?
“It means stop relying solely on my influence and start making your own effort. I’m hanging up.”
He was curious about the information Yoon Ji might have on Do Jun.
If it was something he needed to know anyway, better to hear it a day earlier.
“Good work, Hyun Sung.”
Upon arriving at the office, he reviewed the outfits various designers had sent for Hae Joo. Picking out several promising options, he asked Min Hee to coordinate accordingly.
“Min Hee, please match my outfit that day with Hae Joo’s.”
“Oh! So you’re attending the fashion show too, Director? Of course, I’ll arrange it.”
Jin Han had no intention of yielding Hae Joo—even slightly.
If she was a beloved actress to the public, then in matters of work, it was Do Jun who should step back.
Just then, reporter Choi In Ho called.
Do Jun casually ignored the call and headed into his office.
After spending half a day in the emergency room, Hae Joo was moved to an inpatient room.
Through Manager Song, Do Jun arranged for a caregiver, allowing him to return to the office and tackle his backlog of work.
He was now on his way back to the hospital, timing his arrival with his usual departure hour.
Out of the blue, President Park called.
“Yes, Father.”
I want to go home. It’s suffocating here.
“You’d probably be bored at home, too.”
We’ve got our daughter-in-law there.
“She’s working too. I’ll visit you tomorrow.”
After calming President Park down, Do Jun arrived at the hospital and went up to Hae Joo’s room.
When he opened the door, Hae Joo was already sitting up, her strength seemingly restored.
“How are you feeling?”
“Much better. I think I don’t need to stay hospitalized.”
“No. You’ll be discharged only once you’ve fully recovered.”
Hae Joo held a tablet PC in her hands.
The screen was filled with photos of various outfits.
“What’s this?”
“Outfits for Friday. I have a fashion show.”
Do Jun immediately launched into inspection mode.
Most of the outfits Min Hee had sent were violet-toned cocktail dresses.

“None of these are good. I’ll buy you something—wear that instead.”
“But these are all from luxury brands.”
“Manager Song!”
Avoiding Hae Joo’s response, Do Jun called Manager Song.
“We need a skilled stylist.”
“I’ve already arranged to bring in someone suitable today.”
Hae Joo, hearing their exchange, wondered what was going on.
Just as she was about to ask out of curiosity, a chat message popped up from Min Hee.
[Sister, the Director got invited to the fashion show and wants to coordinate outfits with you.] [Really? That’s news to me.] [He personally selected the outfits I just sent—what do you think?]Hae Joo hesitated to reply—
When Manager Song showed her photos he’d just received from a renowned stylist.
“He suggested black would look best for both you and the Representative.”
“So Do Jun will also…”
Do Jun approached.
He took Hae Joo’s phone, still showing the chat window,
read the messages quickly, then turned off the screen.
“Lately, there’s been a pesky fly trying to squeeze its way between us.”
