“Hyunseong, I’m nervous.”
“Yeah, it feels like it’s been a while.”
After a long time, all the actors gathered in Director Kwak’s office to synchronize their breathing.
Haesoo, who got into the car driven by Hyunseong, carefully asked, “How is Director Yoo doing these days?”
After Chairman Yoo’s arrest, his three sons couldn’t escape criticism from the media and the public. Jinhan handled only the essential business needed for company management and kept a low profile. When Haesoo gave birth, he only sent flowers and gifts.
“I heard he’s been coming to the office lately.”
“Really?”
“He talks less than before and seems to have changed.”
Hwang Gyeong-ok and Chairman Yoo were still in the midst of a divorce lawsuit. The high-profile property division garnered attention.
“There were rumors that Director Yoo is dating. Is it true?”
“Isn’t that just a rumor? I heard he mostly stays at home when he doesn’t come to the company.”
“I hope he’s doing well.”
Finally, they arrived at Director Kwak’s office and met with fellow actors. While asking about each other’s recent situations, Yunji, who arrived first, ran over and greeted Haesoo.
“You gave birth, but there’s no sign of it. Amazing.”
“It’s nothing.”
“This is a gift.”
“Why did you prepare so much?”
“I’m sorry.”
Yunji handed a large gift basket with a fancy wrapping to Hyunseong. In front of Haesoo, who was grateful, Yunji shyly smiled.
“Is it okay?”
“Oh, there is such a thing. Anyway, let’s do well this time too.”
These days, Yunji was gaining popularity not inferior to before. She was regaining her reputation after putting aside her rough image and making efforts.
In front of the actors, Director Kwak remained the same. He smiled brightly and began to announce the upcoming shooting schedule.
“As I reviewed the footage we shot before, I thought it would be good to supplement it with scenes from Jeju Island. We might need to go down there for about a month during the heavenly full moon.”
“…!”
“If it’s an outdoor shoot and the heavenly full moon, we might need to go down and come back.”
Other actors agreed reluctantly, but Haesoo couldn’t bear the thought. Her mind was occupied with the young son she left behind. Even though he was still a newborn, she couldn’t leave him in someone else’s hands. Last year, she received special consideration from Director Kwak, and this time, she couldn’t afford to do that.
“Is everyone okay?”
“Yes.”
The preparations for the shoot proceeded swiftly. They had to wrap up the schedule within the set period, and there should be no mistakes. On that day, Haesoo opened her mouth in front of the leaving Dojun.
“Dojun, I’m here. We need to stay in Jeju Island for about a month.”
“Why Jeju Island?”
“It seems like we need additional shooting because of the rush last year.”
“For a month…”
“I’ll take the baby and the nanny.”
“Why go to such lengths? I’ll take care of Hyun. Can you handle it?”
“Are you sure?”
“Let’s try. Why not.”
Since Hyun began to flip over, he crawled and roamed all over the house. Haesoo couldn’t take her eyes off him for a moment, and she quickly became exhausted.
“Are you sure I can handle this without you…”
After Hyun flipped over, he crawled and overturned the entire house.
Unable to take my eyes off him for a moment, I quickly became exhausted.
Even the mighty Dojun found childcare still challenging. Just a while ago, during a diaper change, his son’s unexpected urination caused a big fuss.
“Do I really need to be here…?”
“Don’t worry about the house and go shoot with peace of mind.”
Setting aside her worries, Haesoo headed to Jeju Island the next day.
After returning from work and sending the nanny away, Dojun bathed Hyun with his big hands.
“Everything’s good until here.”
He had become quite skilled at bathing the young son. Now, if only he could put Hyun to sleep without waking him, it would be perfect.
Quickly preparing formula, he vigorously shook the milk bottle.
“Son, drink your formula and go to sleep.”
Late at night, Dojun, with his large stature, cradled the baby in his arms and offered the bottle, trying to lull him to sleep.
Feeling drowsy, he suddenly wondered, “How did Father manage to raise me and Ijun alone?”
Suddenly, his father seemed great. The future, where the signs of the quirky son were already visible, seemed even more challenging.
There was something that drained Dojun’s strength. Lately, due to parenting, he hadn’t held Haesoo in his arms.
He hadn’t had the chance to enjoy the joy of the hundredth day miracle after giving birth.
“I feel like I’m going to die.”
It wasn’t because of parenting. It was due to the lingering desire for sleep, still alive and kicking thanks to his youth.
On a night without Haesoo, Dojun, after finally putting Hyun to sleep, cautiously took a step.
Just as he was about to turn around and open the door, he accidentally stepped on a noisy toy.
This was a disaster.
“Squeak, squeak, bang!”
“Ow, ow!”
Eventually, Hyun woke up.
It was truly a maddening situation.
Days like these passed relentlessly.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
