Near exit 1 of Sinnonhyeon Station, a taxi stopped when he was waiting.

The person who got off the taxi was Seon-gyu. Nervously, he looked around.

When Chairman Choi In-ho didn’t show up yet, Director Song called.

“As I’m watching, don’t worry.”

Okay.

However, Choi In-ho, who was supposed to come, didn’t appear. Tired Seon-gyu sent a message to Director Song.

[He’s not coming. He’s not even answering the phone.]

It seemed like it was going to end like this.

When Seon-gyu tried to turn around, a taxi approached from a distance and stopped.

Having a short conversation with the person in the taxi, he got on the passenger seat.

“It’s Choi In-ho!”

Director Song followed slowly.

Trying to contact Do-joon, Jinhan received a call from Jinhan first.

“Yes.”

Director Han has moved. He’s near an officetel in Sinnon-dong right now.

“That seems to be where Choi In-ho is. I’ll see you later.”

The taxi entered the officetel complex as Jinhan said.

In front of the officetel main gate, Choi In-ho got out of the taxi first.

“I found him.”
It was terrifyingly scary as a sedan approached Choi In-ho.

A while later, the person who got out of the driver’s seat was Han Jin-tae.

Choi In-ho introduced Seon-gyu to Han Jin-tae and then entered the officetel building.

Director Song called Do-joon.

As soon as the call connected, he shouted.

“We’ve found where Choi In-ho is!”

After the call, he sent the address and then came out of the car. Jinhan, who recognized Director Song, also came running with a tired face.

“Go in right away.”

“Representative Park Do-joon will come soon.”

“That’s good. Then I’ll meet my father and come back.”

Jinhan left, and a while later, Han Jin-tae came out of the officetel.

While watching him leave smoothly, Do-joon arrived.

“Representative, have you arrived?”

“Was it here?”

“Yes, a message came a while ago from Seon-gyu that he’s in room 701.”

A red energy surged through Do-joon’s pupils. It was the first time Director Song, who had assisted him so far, saw him like this.

Do-joon had lost his composure.

Worried that he might completely lose his reason today, Director Song spoke.

“Representative, absolutely…”

“Don’t stop me if you’re going to say that.”

His voice was different from usual.

Never before had the fear in his deep voice been so evident.

The two entered the building. When they got on the elevator, Do-joon’s rough breathing sounded harsh.

“Calm down.”

“I can’t calm down. Even if I hadn’t missed Choi In-ho that day…”

It seemed like Do-joon’s chest was still spreading Hanju’s tears.

Even though he comforted her calmly on the beach, in reality, he wasn’t fine at all.

It was agonizing, and his anger made his heart feel like it was about to burst even now.

“Press the doorbell.”

Finally, they arrived in front of room 701.

Director Song pressed the doorbell and deliberately showed only his lips on the camera.

“Who is it?”

It was Choi In-ho’s voice.

Upon this, Director Song altered his voice.

“The management office. We received a call from another resident saying there’s a gas smell.”

“It’s okay here, so go away.”

“If you don’t inspect, you won’t be able to use gas.”

“Oh, really! It’s so annoying.”

Choi In-ho expressed his irritation.

Nervously waiting, they finally heard the door lock of the entrance.

As soon as a small gap appeared, Do-joon grabbed the handle.

Choi In-ho was caught off guard, and he forcefully pulled, opening the door wide without giving him a chance to react.

“What is this, uh!”

Do-joon, recognized by Choi In-ho, was shocked as if he had seen the grim reaper. Forgetting to scream, he hastily stepped back.

“Very… nice to meet you.”

It was not a friendly tone at all.

It was clear that Do-joon, who came here armed, was exposed.

If caught like this, it was the end.

Trying to run away, an impact as if his entire head would be torn off struck his head.

“Ah!”

Do-joon had his hair grabbed, and Director Song immediately locked the door.

With a terrifying sound, Do-joon, holding Choi In-ho’s hair, threw him against the wall.

Startled, Seon-gyu hid under the desk.

Choi In-ho screamed as if in a fit of madness.

“Save me, Seon-gyu!”
“Now, apologize for what you did, please!”

Do-joon seemed to have given up being human.

Seeing the madness brushing past his lips, Choi In-ho thrashed wildly as if insane.

Trying to defend himself, Do-joon’s leg terrifyingly flew toward Choi In-ho.

In an instant, Choi In-ho fainted.

As he muttered nonsense I didn’t even understand, cold water was splashed on him.

“Open your eyes.”

“Ugh…….”

Do-joon lifted Choi In-ho by the collar. Meanwhile, his face, swollen by now, was pressed onto the floor.

Pathetically folding his body, Choi In-ho convulsed and twitched his limbs.

“You shouldn’t have touched me at least.”

“Ugh…….”

However, the anger didn’t subside.

Do-joon took out one of the bars from the railing on the loft stairs.

When he swung it towards Choi In-ho, Director Song intervened.

“Representative!”

“Step aside.”

“If Choi In-ho dies, all our efforts will be in vain.”

“Step aside.”

“Think about the Madam waiting at home.”

Only then did Do-joon lower the bar he was holding.

When the breathless Director Song stepped back, it was time.

Do-joon grabbed Choi In-ho’s collar again, and in a broken voice, he threatened.

“Listen carefully. You hit me first.”

“Ugh, ugh…. gulp, gulp.”

“I acted in self-defense. Right, or not?”

“Ugh…….”

“No answer?”

Do-joon picked up the bar again.

Choi In-ho, in a fit of resistance, convulsed violently all over his body.

“S-Save me!”

“You hit me first. Understand?”

“Gulp, yes.”

“Make it clear.”

With tears all over, Choi In-ho gathered his trembling hands and nodded.

Do-joon released the collar he was holding and approached Director Song.

“Hit me.”

“Huh?”

“Come on. Otherwise, won’t you call the police?”

“Even if you say so, this is a bit…….”

“If you have anything against me so far, now is the time to let it out.”

Director Song’s head throbbed.

Facing Do-joon’s demand without a plan, he sighed and made various excuses.

“It’s better to see a little blood at the end of the lips.”

“You can hit me with that bar.”

“Stop the dreadful talk!”

Director Song slapped his head.

Choi In-ho had already fainted, and Seon-gyu turned away, shivering.

Unable to delay any longer, he clenched his fist pathetically.

“Well then, I’m leaving.”

“If you escape, I’ll have to do it again, so do well.”

Encouraging himself, Director Song swung a fist toward Do-joon’s smiling mouth.

It made quite a loud noise.

However, Do-joon didn’t bat an eye.

“You did well.”

“Please don’t ask me to do something like this again.”

Do-joon’s lips burst, and blood stained them. Dissatisfied, he rubbed the back of his hand against it to make the wound stand out even more.

Thanks to that, Do-joon’s mouth was smeared with blood.

“I’ll contact the police.”
When I searched through Choi In-ho’s phone and bag, I found an audio file of a conversation with Han Jin-tae.

It was the hole he had created to save himself.

With the threatening messages that Hae-joo received, the evidence was perfect.

In a disappointed heart, Do-joon felt a weight lifted off his shoulders.

Up to this point, it had been so painful, and he had received countless scars.

He searched for Hyun-seong’s name on his phone and pressed it.

While the mechanical sound echoed, a bitter scent filled his mouth.

Representative!

“Change it to Hae-joo.”

Just a moment.

The sound of Hyun-seong waking up Hae-joo was heard.

The voice that had been pressed into Do-joon’s ear from the call resurfaced.

Mr. Do-joon?

“Hae-joo.”

Where did you go?

“… You know where.”

Choi In-ho bowed before Do-joon.

A complex emotion surged through his throat, and the events of the past flashed before his eyes.

To say this one word, Do-joon had been protecting Hae-joo all along…

“Now, don’t cry anymore.”

When scheming men desperately battle for her favor in the male harem

This one’s also on my reread list! The rivalry, scheming between the men in the imperial harem are just as intense and thrilling as in classic palace drama novels, where concubines fight to the death. Give it a read, girls! I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Synopsis:

“I am not worthy of her… but I still want to be by her side, even if only as a loyal dog…”

Those were the painful whispers of Yue Guanyi – the proud Crown Prince of the Great Qi, who was torn between deep love and a guilty conscience. Despite holding the supreme power of the Imperial Guard, he still could not forget the dark past when he was sold into a brothel.

Fate played a cruel twist when Qiu Shuzhi – a young female official who had just passed the imperial examinations with top honors – stepped into his life. She did not know that she was the one who had saved him from a tragic fate many years ago. And now, her heart was the target of pursuit for both Yue Guanyi and the powerful Empress Dowager Qin Qing.

While Yue Guanyi only dared to silently care for and protect the one he loved from afar, the  Empress Dowager Qin Qing openly expressed his feelings and did not hesitate to take advantage of his power to approach Qiu Shuzhi. The covert struggle between the two most powerful forces in the imperial court began…
