At a location in Seoul, a heavy atmosphere pervaded the press conference room. The news that Hae Joo was holding a press conference had drawn representatives from various media outlets.
At the main entrance, under Jin Han’s orders, the identities of everyone entering were meticulously checked.
“Just an hour left now.”
Jin Han’s cornering of Choi In Ho the day before was akin to venting his frustrations. He had even entertained the thought of killing Choi, such was his state of mind.
He, who had always despised violence, felt like his basic principles that sustained his life were crumbling.
“Is it just me who has to give up?”
He knew in his head what needed to be done, but his heart wouldn’t follow, leading him to escalate the situation to this point.
Real Fact was not even a reputable media outlet; it had become a nuisance in the entertainment industry due to its paparazzi-style reporting.
He had somewhat let his guard down with Yoon Ji, but Hae Joo’s case was different.
Just causing her discomfort seemed insurmountable.
“How did it come to this?”
He was overwhelmed with a sense of self-loathing.
Jin Han, who had nothing to envy in the world, had never felt as pathetic as he did these days.
At this point, he couldn’t even make a proper judgment.
If Hae Joo could just follow along in today’s press conference…
“Manager Han Jin Tae?”
Just then, Han Jin Tae called him.
Jin Han quickly pressed the call button, grateful for his help the day before.
“What’s the matter?”
[Dash] The Chairman wishes to see you briefly.“Now?”
The press conference location was only a 10-minute drive from GN Entertainment’s office. Jin Han stood up from his chair.
[Dash] He’d like to see you in his office for a moment.“Please tell my father I can’t stay long.”
[Dash] Understood.“Come to my office.”
There was still plenty of time before the press conference. Jin Han left the waiting room, thinking the Chairman must be on his way too.
“Office manager, I’ll be back after visiting my office.”
“Understood, sir.”
Jin Han decided to walk, needing some fresh air.
His phone displayed a message from Hyun Seong, saying he and Hae Joo had left 30 minutes ago.
After Jin Han left, the manager team’s leader stepped outside. Ignoring the gathering reporters, he rushed to a sedan parked across the street.
Bowing his head nervously, the car window rolled down, revealing Han Jin Tae in the passenger seat.
“Manager, Director Jin has left.”
Han Jin Tae exited the passenger seat.
With a respectful gesture, he opened the back door, and Chairman Yoo’s face twisted in displeasure.
“Has Hae Joo arrived?”
“Not yet.”
The manager team leader replied nervously.
Chairman Yoo then got out of the car, hands clasped behind his back.
“Lead the way.”
The manager team leader escorted Chairman Yoo to the back entrance of the conference building, trying to avoid drawing attention.
“Wait here. Call the head of the media response team.”
“Yes, Manager Han.”
Following Han Jin Tae’s instructions, the manager team leader hurried off, wiping the sweat off his forehead.
“If Director Jin finds out about this, there’ll be hell to pay.”
Recently, he had unwillingly become a spy for Chairman Yoo.
He didn’t want to continue working for the company to the point of resignation, but he couldn’t refuse.
Manager Oh, busy preparing for the press conference, was spotted.
Approaching him abruptly, the manager team leader grabbed his arm.
“Come with me for a moment.”
“I’m busy right now.”
“Just for a moment. Don’t be too surprised.”
Dragging Manager Oh, he knocked on the room where Chairman Yoo and Han Jin Tae were.
With Han Jin Tae’s permission to enter, the manager team leader forcibly pushed Manager Oh into the room.
“What is this about? Oh, oh!”
Manager Oh nearly fell but managed to catch himself, his face changing as he saw Chairman Yoo seated before him.
“This is Chairman Yoo Jin Ho.”
“Hello! I’m Oh Joo Han, the head of the media response team.”
He had thought the two men standing by the door were company security guards.
Manager Oh was puzzled as to why Jin Han’s father, Chairman Yoo, was here.
“Did you oversee Hae Joo’s case?”
“Yes, I did.”
“What do you think is the reason Jin Han was played by a trivial media outlet?”
“Sir?”
“He’s not acting like his usual self.”
Chairman Yoo was probing into his son’s secretive demeanor.
Manager Oh found it difficult to explain the delicate situation tangled with Jin Han’s personal feelings.
“I think the initial response was inadequate. I wasn’t present at that time.”
“That’s why I’m curious about the reason.”
Manager Oh was at a loss for words.
“It seems like Hae Joo isn’t following Jin Han’s lead.”
Hae Joo had become a real couple with Do Jun, despite planning to divorce a year later.
For Jin Han, who had feelings for Hae Joo, there was no greater humiliation.
The critical matter was Hae Joo’s heart.
Jin Han tried to turn things around but ended up in this difficult situation.
How to explain all these intricacies was daunting.
“Their opinions did not align.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
