The Secretary's Power (Completed Main Story) - Side Story 14
Lawyer, I’d like to meet you for a bit.
Upon receiving a call from Song Yeon’s mother, Madam Kang, Yang Hoon quickly set a time and place to meet. Though it was a meeting that required no special preparation, Yang Hoon still tidied his hair and put on a brand-new suit he’d kept hanging untouched in his closet.
Before leaving the house, he reached for his usual perfume but placed it back where it was and headed straight to the meeting spot. His face, expressionless as always, appeared calm—but anyone who knew him well would surely sense the tension brewing beneath the surface.
Although the appointment was scheduled for two o’clock, Yang Hoon arrived an hour early. He switched his phone to airplane mode well in advance and fixed his gaze on the scenery outside the window.
Even in passing glances, Yang Hoon radiated an air of uprightness. He was an honest, principled man who had never walked a crooked path, let alone claimed the world was unjust. He had been born good-natured and gentle.
His heart kept pounding uncomfortably as he waited for her mother, because he knew all too well that this love might be seen as the wrong path by someone else.
He stared blankly out the window. It felt as though his heart couldn’t find its bearings and kept swaying unsteadily.
“Oh—Mother.”
How much time had passed? At the approaching sound of heels, Yang Hoon turned his head and immediately stood up from his seat.
“Lawyer, we meet again, don’t we?”
“Yes, Mother. It’s good to see you again.”
Recalling their previous encounter at Tae Beom’s wedding, Madam Kang greeted him warmly. A few years ago, needing legal advice, Madam Kang had been introduced to Yang Hoon by her daughter.
They’d exchanged contact information then and had maintained the connection ever since, mostly with Yang Hoon sending seasonal greetings from time to time.
“Did you wait long?”
“No, not at all. I’ve only just arrived myself.”
