Wreaths lined up from the entrance of the funeral hall all the way down, adorning Park Jung Kyun’s final journey. At the very front stood the wreath from Yusun Group, and Chairman Ha stared long at the portrait of the deceased.

Family members who had lost their loved one overnight wept incessantly. Chairman Ha, who had been guarding the mourning hall filled only with heart-wrenching sobs, raised his head. Ji Seok had arrived belatedly.

With hands as calm and detached as if merely fulfilling a duty, Ji Seok lit incense, paid his respects to the departed, and exchanged greetings with the bereaved family.

Approaching Chairman Ha a moment later, Ji Seok wore a somber expression.

“I’m a bit late.”

“I went to pick you up, but they said you’d already left.”

Chairman Ha replied and turned to walk outside. Ha Tae Beom, standing beside him, naturally offered his arm to support the chairman, causing Ji Seok’s eyebrows to furrow.

After glancing briefly around, Ji Seok grabbed Tae Beom’s arm.

“If you’re going to accompany the chairman, shouldn’t you have told me beforehand?”

“Do I really need to report something like that? We just happened to leave at the same time.”

“Since when did you start looking after the chairman? Why suddenly act like this?”

“That’s exactly why I’m trying to start now. We don’t just have one grandson in the family, do we? Isn’t that right?”

Tae Beom pulled his arm free and followed Chairman Ha, while Ji Seok trailed behind with clenched teeth and a strained expression.
