The Secretary's Power (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 48
Ji Seok met with major shareholder Park Jung Kyun for a meal. It was an early lunch, timed to match Park Jung Kyun’s habit of eating at 11:30 AM.
The menu was mild Pyongyang naengmyeon.
Park Jung Kyun, slurping down his noodles, gulped the broth and nodded appreciatively with a sigh.
“This is delicious. No matter how many times I eat this Pyongyang naengmyeon, I never get tired of it. Truly, when it comes to cold noodles, it’s Pyongyang naengmyeon.”
Park Jung Kyun had once visited North Korea years ago with Chairman Ha Baek Seung as part of a Yusun Group business trip. There, he first encountered Pyongyang naengmyeon.
Though that was already over twenty years ago, he’d been utterly captivated ever since tasting it at Pyongyang’s Okryu Restaurant and had made sure to eat naengmyeon at least three or four times a month ever since.
“Chairman Ha really enjoyed the meal at Okryu too. This place is one of the few that comes close in taste—I’d love to bring him here, but I’ve tried several times and he just won’t come out.”
“Chairman doesn’t particularly like noodle dishes.”
“Don’t talk nonsense. Of course he loves them. He went through so much stress back then—right before that North Korea trip—when Cheong Wa Dae suddenly changed its stance entirely. He avoids it now just because those memories are painful.”
“Seriously, though—that was ages ago. It feels like ancient history.”
“Hmm? Emotional wounds don’t simply vanish just because time passes. You can’t imagine how hard it was for your grandfather back then.”
Park Jung Kyun, once Chairman Ha Baek Seung’s closest aide, recalled those days—the era when Chairman Ha aggressively pushed to establish a shipping route to North Korea, only to see the whole effort collapse under political pressure.
“Chairman truly was extraordinary. How easy it is to do business now compared to then! Laws have improved, and regulations aren’t nearly as harsh.”
Ji Seok smiled inwardly. To him, Park Jung Kyun’s words sounded like nothing more than the ramblings of an out-of-touch old man stuck in the past.
“Chairman built this group through such immense hardship—I must carry on his legacy properly and grow it further. The weight on my shoulders feels heavy.”

She turned around upon hearing the noise.
He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
