Tae Beom got into the car heading to the seminar venue and glanced at the daily news.

He never let even a brief moment slip by carelessly—it was as if he filled his life with preparations for work during any time he wasn’t actively working.

Hye Won suddenly felt her heart swell, realizing that she had somehow slipped into a crack in his tightly packed life and was steadily expanding her presence there.

Holding his hand tightly while reading the news on his tablet, she didn’t sense even the slightest opening in his demeanor.

“Assistant Manager Yoon, your lips look a little swollen.”

Startled, Hye Won touched her lips at his comment. She was exasperated—he’d kissed her deeply and was now pretending as if nothing had happened.

“It’s not. My lips are just naturally a bit full.”

“No, they really are swollen.”

Flustered and speechless, Hye Won gave him a sour look, causing Tae Beom to steal a quick glance at her face.

“They look good.”

“Yes, thank you. It’s all thanks to you in every way.”

When Hye Won returned his comment with a meaningful remark, Tae Beom squeezed her hand firmly.

Only then did Hye Won realize how cold her hand was, and she took a deep breath—she’d been unconsciously tense at the thought of meeting the Chairman.

He was clearly trying, in his own absurdly gruff way, to help her relax.

“Relax. It’ll be fine.”
