The Secretary's Power (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 42
The morning had been oppressively humid without a breath of wind, the midday sun so harsh it stung the eyes like snow glare. By evening, a thin long-sleeve shirt was just right to block the breeze.
Tae Beom and Hye Won were right in the heart of late spring.
Having arrived in Busan for the aerospace technology seminar, Tae Beom settled into the front passenger seat of the prepared car, and Hye Won took the seat beside him.
Until their arrival, Tae Beom had been busy reading the latest academic paper, his eyes darting across the text. Even during the drive, he kept his gaze fixed on his tablet, saying little.
Hye Won repeatedly reviewed the schedule she’d received in advance from the organizers. Though seated close together, they were both work-first people, and right now, preparing for their respective duties took priority.
After checking the itinerary for a long while, Hye Won finally lifted her head and briefly closed her eyes. Fatigue had built up heavily in her eyes, making her tightly shut eyelids feel prickly and sore.
“You must be tired.”
Tae Beom’s voice came softly, his eyes still glued to his tablet. Hye Won opened her eyes and let out a long breath.
“I tried hard to read along with you, Managing Director, but I guess I just don’t have a knack for reading in the car.”
“Then rest your eyes for a bit. We’ll probably arrive in about ten minutes.”
Hye Won turned to look at Tae Beom. Despite his complete absorption in the paper, he’d noticed her subtle shift in posture—she smiled faintly at his attentiveness.
Then her eyes drifted to his long, slender fingers holding the tablet. Each knuckle was pale and clean, perfectly matching the image his face projected.
Sensing her gaze, Tae Beom glanced sideways. Assuming she was looking at the tablet, he tilted it slightly downward.
“What? Do you want to read the paper too?”
“Oh—no, not really.”
