“What is this?”
As soon as he finished asking, Tae Beom’s heart sank.
“It’s my resignation.”
Tae Beom’s gaze swiftly found her. Hye Won’s expression was as calm as the neatly folded resignation letter.
For several days, she had practiced for this moment. While eating, while sleeping.
While walking, suddenly, while brushing her teeth, standing dumbfounded.
“A resignation letter?”
“Yes. That’s correct. Executive Director.”
It’s a resignation letter.
Hye Won had run through hundreds, thousands of rehearsals to utter those words with conviction.
Tae Beom’s gaze drifted to the resignation letter. He stared at it, then, as if unable to believe it, he reached out and took it.
He quickly unfolded the coarse paper and read the simple, straightforward contents of the resignation.
Looking at the reason for resignation, ‘personal circumstances’, he found himself laughing in disbelief.
“Listen, Assistant Manager Yoon Hye Won.”
“Yes. Executive Director.”
He crumpled the paper with uncontrolled strength. Tae Beom exhaled a long breath and looked up at her again.

“A resignation? Whose decision is this?”
His disbelief echoed in his voice. Their distance felt immense, as if their vision was obstructed by the fog surrounding them.
“Whose decision is it to resign? Do you think I’ll approve this, Assistant Manager Yoon?”
Tae Beom’s brow furrowed, as if a throbbing headache had begun.
A nauseating migraine surged, bringing a wave of sickness. Tae Beom closed his eyes tightly, then opened them and tapped the desk as if knocking.
“Alright, Assistant Manager Yoon Hye Won. Then tell me the reason. What is this extremely personal reason that you had to write a resignation?”
“……”
“Don’t I at least deserve to know that much? I believe I have that right.”
“It’s about an employee’s personal life. Please approve it.”
“So why! Why all of a sudden, why!”
For the first time with her in front of him, his voice rose in anger. He stared at her lips, tightly closed as if refusing to say anything, and leaned back in his chair.
A chill crept into his eyes, which had been filled with affection for a while.
“Is this your answer, Miss Yoon Hye Won?”
The sunlight streaming in through the window was so warm, it illsuited his cold voice.
“Answer me. Is this, is this your answer to my love?”
His clenched fingertips felt so cold it seemed his heart might freeze as well. Her body felt cold and shivered as if all the blood had drained from it, and Hye Won let out a broken breath.
If she loosened her hold on her tension even for a moment, she felt like she would be on the verge of tears, as if he would discover her agonizing act.
Just a little more. She just had to hold on a bit longer.
“Yes. This is my answer.”
The ground seemed to rise and wrap around her, creating a sense of vertigo. The words she uttered stung with the pain and sorrow they caused.

With such strength she clenched her hand, it felt as if her nails were digging into her flesh, close to drawing blood.
Time had seemingly flowed for a while, leaving us alone in the face of farewell.
“So, this is your answer.”
His voice seemed to echo emptiness, as if he couldn’t believe, wouldn’t believe.
Repeating the same words like a person who had lost their way, Tae Beom looked at her.
“I understand. If this is your wish, Yoon Hye Won, I’ll fix it.”
This is the end.
Looking at the emotions welled up in his eyes, Hye Won bowed her waist.
Even if all the moments of my life were added up, the three months I spent with you were much happier.
I cried a lot because I didn’t want to leave.
What more can I say after this? What words can I use to replace them?
“I’m sorry to cause inconvenience on my way out.”
The things I want to say are these, but the words I have to say now are

…Forget me comfortably.
“Please stay healthy. I’ll take my leave now.”
I would appreciate it if you could erase me.
“Thank you for everything. Director.”
Our love, without a thing to throw away, from now on, I’ll carry it alone.
Three months ago.
At Yu Sun Airline’s Business Strategy Headquarters.
Hye Won, who had finished her usual workday, was organizing her diary when she got an unexpected call from the vicepresident’s office. It caused a small commotion around her.
“Are you sure they’re looking for me? Yoon Hye Won, the Assistant in the Business Strategy department, are they really looking for me?”
Hye Won asked the assistant from the vicepresident’s office who came to find her, again and again. It was something she could hardly believe.
“Yes.”
“Why? Why would the Vice President look for someone like me, a mere assistant?”
“I don’t know. How would people like us know? They told us to bring you, so we’re bringing you.”
So, why would someone like me have to face someone so high up….
Unable to find a reason, Hye Won followed the secretary with a worried look on her face.
Being summoned by someone of a high position wasn’t usually good news from a general employee’s point of view.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
