Hoshi furiously pounded on Augustus’s front door.

“Captain! Captain, come out!”

“What? What’s the matter?”

Augustus appeared, scratching his belly. Despite it being afternoon, he looked groggy from sleep.

“Were you just lazily napping this whole time?”

“Did you take some kind of medicine? What’s with barging in here like some nagging wife?”

Augustus raised his massive fist, and Hoshi shrank his neck like a turtle.

“I have something important to tell you.”

Though Hoshi watched Augustus’s expression carefully, he didn’t back down. Seeing Hoshi—normally the most afraid of getting hit—acting so stubborn, Augustus sensed something was off and shouted toward the house.

“I’ve got a visitor; I’ll be back shortly. Keep watch over the place.”

A crashing sound came from inside. Hoshi’s eyes widened.

“S-Shouldn’t you go check on that?”

“That *is* the reply. Just ignore it. My head’s a bit sore, that’s all.”

Augustus tapped his head. Hoshi made a grimace and started walking toward the woods. Augustus followed him, yawning loudly all the way.

Augustus was truly exhausted. Hoshi had assumed he’d quit his work with the Rose Faction and spent all day sleeping, but for the past few days, Augustus had been even busier than when he was active with them.
