It was the Seo Taeseok syndrome. The entire nation had been talking about Seo Taeseok nonstop for a week. His unexpectedly ingenious entrance had been reborn as countless memes, scattered everywhere online.

News articles kept pouring in, and fan cafes were buzzing with festival-like excitement. Interest in the drama had surged so much that it climbed onto the list of top search terms for a while. Of course, this was exactly what Taeseok had anticipated.

“Like he’d been hiding away for two years just to build that body. Those biceps are legendary.”

“How did he even come up with such an entrance? My heart almost melted.”

Since Taeseok didn’t have a personal social media account, HJ Entertainment’s official account was getting bombarded with comments. Team Leader Jo, who handled marketing, even tearfully called him, begging him to create a personal account. Taeseok just laughed it off.

The drama’s production budget had also ballooned significantly.

Originally a low-budget drama where every single prop had to be purchased with extreme frugality, it now had ample funds—thanks to record-breaking PPL deals—to even consider overseas filming. Director Lee even joked about inventing an overseas shoot out of thin air.

That, too, was something Taeseok had expected.

However, Taeseok was secretly flustered by one unforeseen development: the name “Choi Yeoreum” had appeared on the portal site’s rapidly rising search terms.

He hadn’t expected the writer’s name to be featured so prominently—let alone to see Choi Yeoreum’s name displayed so formally like this.

Choi Yeoreum.

There was a time when he’d confidently believed he knew everything about her, yet now, aside from her three-character name, he knew absolutely nothing. Even that name felt strangely distant, as if it belonged to someone from a faraway past.

Seeing one’s own name on a portal site was quite burdensome.

It would take considerable time to get used to it. He briefly considered the weight of discomfort the name’s owner must be feeling right now. If possible, he wanted to see her fidgeting anxiously with his own eyes.

So he made the call. The ringing tone dragged on for a long while. He could almost picture the woman on the other end, torn until the very last moment about whether to pick up.

*Click.*

Taeseok wore a faint, peculiar smile.

[Hello?]

“Come over to my place. There’s something important about the drama I need to discuss.”

He knew she couldn’t refuse. A small sense of victory washed over him. It didn’t matter what feelings she carried—what mattered was the thrill of knowing she could no longer run away.

[…Why come to your place…?]

“Then… shall we meet alone somewhere outside instead?”

[…]

“Just come to my place.”

The call was abruptly cut off.

Yeoreum bit her lower lip hard enough to draw blood. A mix of defeat, humiliation, and inexplicable sadness welled up in her eyes, glistening at the brim. She absolutely did not want to go to his house.

‘…This is so annoying. I just want to avoid him.’

She recalled her conversation with Representative Kim from the production company.

“Writer Choi, are you out of your mind? If you make Seo Taeseok unhappy and he pulls out, are you really prepared to take full responsibility? Do you even realize how many more PPLs and advertisements we’ve secured because of him? Another zero’s been added to the production budget. Are you going to cover that entire cost yourself?”

Money. Contracts. Breach penalties. These words rooted her firmly in place. Representative Kim had been right—Yeoreum couldn’t resolve anything on her own.

Besides, on the surface, everything had worked out well for everyone involved. In fact, people even claimed that Choi Yeoreum was the one benefiting the most.

They said things like, “How lucky for a rookie writer just debuting to land an actor like Seo Taeseok—she must’ve saved a whole nation in her past life.”

Over the past week, she’d personally witnessed the magic Seo Taeseok had cast.

The once-ordinary drama had risen to become the most anticipated show of the second half of the year and easily secured the highly coveted Saturday-Sunday 10 p.m. time slot—the hardest slot to obtain. Promotion was happening effortlessly, without spending a single won.

It was all thanks to Seo Taeseok’s power.

‘I guess I have to go.’

She suddenly felt like a proper working adult now—because she was finally getting to know “Seo Taeseok, the professional,” someone she’d always been curious about. Not that she was particularly pleased about it.

He was someone who could command hundreds of staff with just a word—who could fulfill his wishes with merely a glance if he so desired.

And now, he’d made it abundantly clear that he wanted to hurt her. He would get exactly what he wanted.

She resolved to quietly endure it. She didn’t want to drag out a long conversation, dissecting reasons point by point. She figured if she just let him vent until his anger subsided, he’d eventually lose interest.

Apparently, his enormous pride had taken quite a hit—after all, he’d never been abandoned by a woman before.

How deeply wounded must he have been to sharpen his knives for two whole years? Yeoreum admitted to herself that she’d somewhat overlooked just how persistent he truly was.

She straightened her clothes and stepped out. She knew the way to his house all too well.

Taeseok silently watched as Yeoreum entered through the hallway past the front door.

The end of her hair, tied neatly into a single ponytail, swayed like a pendulum. Despite holding so many memories within this house, she didn’t glance around even once. Her complete lack of lingering attachment irritated Taeseok deeply.

Dating outside had been difficult back then, so they’d spent nearly all their time at his place. Every corner of the house bore traces of Yeoreum’s presence.

One of the picture frames hanging in the living room had been personally chosen and hung up by her. Yet now, she didn’t even spare it a glance—just stood firmly in the center of the room. Since he hadn’t told her to sit, she didn’t.

His insides twisted.

“You’re going to talk standing up?”

“You didn’t tell me to sit.”

Her forced attempt at being demure and ladylike grated on him even more. Taeseok tapped the table lightly with his foot.

“Come sit right in front of me.”

Yeoreum walked over lightly, her steps making soft tapping sounds, and sat down opposite him. A cool floral scent brushed past his shoulder. Since she never wore perfume, it was probably just her shampoo. That uniquely clear, refreshing fragrance—one that had always made him turn around for another look. It had been the same that day.

Three years ago. Manager Hong had said he was drinking with a college friend. Taeseok joined them late.

He’d spent a long time scanning the place because he couldn’t find a table with just two men. Eventually, he spotted Manager Hong—but he was with a woman. That’s when Taeseok realized his “friend” was, in fact, female.

As he approached, he heard her cheerful laughter. She sat across from Manager Hong, wearing a fluttering mint-green dress, smiling beautifully. As he drew closer, a crisp, green floral scent drifted toward him.

“So Seo Taeseok is really Senior Minwoo’s friend? I’m so excited… Oh my!”

She’d been walking while staring at him since the entrance but didn’t notice him until he was right in front of her—then her eyes widened in surprise. They were clear eyes filled with a gentle blue hue.

“Hello. I’m Seo Taeseok.”

That day, Taeseok had fallen for Yeoreum at first sight. She was the first woman he’d ever seen who ate freely and healthily without obsessing over her figure. But he had no intention of letting himself fall for her again.

He spoke coldly to Yeoreum sitting across from him.

“Aren’t you going to apologize first?”

Yeoreum sat up straight and replied quickly.

“Feelings can change—if someone falls out of love, they can break up. I don’t think that’s something to apologize for.”

“How bold. You don’t even know your place.”

“And if we have to keep meeting like this, I’d appreciate it if you showed me some basic courtesy. Let’s speak formally to each other from now on.”

Her rehearsed lines came pouring out. Taeseok gave a practiced smile.

“Social distancing, huh? Sounds good.”

“Speaking formally to each other…”

“Before that—”

He had so many questions. How exactly had she hidden all this time? Why did she report him for tax evasion? Why did she take the money? Why had she come back?

Did she ever truly love me?

A dull ache pressed against his solar plexus. Choi Yeoreum still looked as lovely and innocent as ever.

He’d resolved not to be fooled again—but facing that clear, guileless expression, he found himself confused once more. Maybe there’d been some misunderstanding. The Choi Yeoreum he knew wasn’t cruel enough to commit such deceit…

Damn it.

Taeseok muttered a low curse. He kept forgetting—the real fool wasn’t some con artist, but himself.

“Why did you do that to me?”

Yeoreum answered firmly.

“What do you mean?”

“Everything.”

“…”

“Everything you did to betray me.”

Yeoreum exhaled quietly. Usually, her face revealed every emotion—but today, it was as if she’d put on a mask, leaving no trace of disturbance.

This was the harsh reality of working life. Even a naïve job-seeking graduate had turned into a slippery fox after two years. She was probably already cooking up another batch of lies.

“…I told you I’d grown tired of you, but you wouldn’t let go, so I had no choice.”

Her unexpected answer struck his heart like a dull thud.

“Love requires both people to care—but a breakup only needs one person to change. I changed. I didn’t like you anymore, but you kept persisting, so I had no choice but…”

“To push me away.”

“Yes.”

The fox’s mask wouldn’t come off easily—but eyes couldn’t wear masks. Taeseok caught the flicker of confusion in her gaze.

“So what you’re saying is—it wasn’t premeditated, just a crime of passion.”

“Yes.”

She answered readily, without even fully grasping the question. A mocking laugh slipped out.

“Don’t you have anything you want to ask me?”

She did.

She wanted to ask if he really believed she’d done that absurd thing herself.

She wanted to ask if he’d ever wondered why she’d turned away so suddenly, if he’d ever considered coming back to ask her directly—but she kept her mouth shut.

“No. Nothing at all.”

Once she started talking, it would never end. Those were wounds best left untouched—no need to dig them open just to hurt each other further. Yeoreum firmly locked the gates of her heart and sat up even straighter, using the stiffest tone possible.

“Not in the slightest.”

Taeseok’s eyes, which had held a trace of warmth, hardened instantly. She didn’t need to look directly at him to sense it—the air itself had grown heavier.

He was the kind of man whose overwhelming presence could manipulate another’s tension at will. The moment his lips parted again, Yeoreum let out a small, quiet breath.

“…Understood, Writer Choi Yeoreum.”

She had proposed it, and he had drawn the line. The distance between them was now unmistakably clear.

“But.”

He spoke, his voice brimming with icy chill.

“As I told you last time, I never agreed to our breakup. So from now on, you’d better behave nicely and sweetly.”

“I already said—breakups only require one person to change…”

“Don’t lecture me.”

Taeseok showed her a cold smile. Yeoreum closed her mouth.

“I’ll end things in my own way, when I want to. Until then, Writer, you’ll listen carefully to me and wait.”

“Stop forcing your will on me.”

“By the way—do you happen to have the script with you?”

Taeseok suddenly switched topics, maintaining formal address.

“No. You didn’t ask me to bring it.”

“Next time I call you, be sure to bring the script with you. You may go.”

Without even standing up, Taeseok gestured toward the entrance with his eyes. Yeoreum felt uneasy about the abrupt end to their conversation—but her desire to escape outweighed everything else. She gave a slight bow and headed toward the front door.

From behind, she heard him mutter a quiet curse.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
