After persistent tracking, he finally found a seaside village in Namhae.

He rented a room at a guesthouse closest to the pension where Yeoreum was staying and observed her for several days. At first, there was no unusual activity. Thanks to that, Oh Hyunsik lazily caught up on his long-overdue sleep.

Just as he was contemplating giving up and heading back home, Choi Yeoreum finally showed herself. She looked somewhat haggard.

Gradually expanding her range of movement, she first went to the convenience store right in front of her house, then to the park across from it, and eventually even as far as the distant breakwater.

Along the way, she grew close to the neighborhood grandmothers—running errands for them, accepting side dishes they offered, petting and walking dogs, feeding stray cats, and even taking the bus to go shopping at the market.

There was even a day when she picked up trash left behind by fishermen. Standing beside her, Young kept smiling brightly, fascinated by everything as if it were all so wonderful.

‘Yoo Young probably doesn’t smile like that anymore.’

It was right around the time rumors were swirling that “Lovely Rose” disbanded because of Yoo Young’s solo success. That smile couldn’t be genuine—she must be forcing it out of consideration for Yeoreum, he thought.

‘Well, she’s managing fine on her own. Nothing special here—I shouldn’t have followed her for no reason.’

After two weeks passed, boredom slowly crept in. To Oh Hyunsik, it seemed Choi Yeoreum wasn’t particularly devastated by the breakup. Maybe she hadn’t liked Seo Taeseok as much as he’d assumed. Oh Hyunsik started preparing to return to Seoul—and as he recalled, it rained that night.

By chance, while strolling outside, he saw Yeoreum standing alone on the beach in front of her pension, crying her heart out. Just from her back view under the umbrella, he knew instantly it was Choi Yeoreum. After crying for a long while, Yeoreum returned to the pension once the rain stopped.

The next day, he immediately understood why she had come down to this seaside village and what she’d been secretly crying about. While driving hard back toward Seoul, he received a call from an unknown number.

[“Reporter Oh Hyunsik? Hello. This is Ji Hyeonjeong.”]

Ji Hyeonjeong had only just realized a reporter was tracking them and even discovered that Oh Hyunsik had noticed the dating rumor but kept quiet.

She summoned Oh Hyunsik and asked why he hadn’t published the story. He replied he simply wasn’t interested in dating scandals involving ordinary people.
