It took tremendous courage for Taeseok to visit Yeoreum’s house.

He’d thought there was a chance she might not even see him, but setting that worst-case scenario aside, he absolutely needed to check how hard it had been for her after lashing out at Ji Hyeonjeong and leaving.

If possible, he even wanted to hold her in his arms. He still couldn’t bring himself to confess that he’d watched the secretly recorded video, but if the atmosphere allowed anything like last time, he was determined not to miss his chance.

He felt half out of his mind. He simply missed her so badly it felt like he might die—so intensely he could barely breathe. Yes, truthfully, he’d come here just to breathe again. But then, Ji Hyeok was standing right in front of the elevator.

The moment Taeseok saw him, an odd sense of unease pressed down heavily on his whole body.

“Hyung, what are you doing here?”

“And what are you doing here again?”

Not only that, but the brat had already asked the question Taeseok himself was about to pose. His tone was still strangely accusatory, as if reminding Taeseok he was merely a temporary guest in this place.

Taeseok, lacking the mental bandwidth for explanations, silently walked past Ji Hyeok toward Yeoreum’s front door. Just as he reached to ring the bell, Ji Hyeok grabbed his wrist.

“Don’t do it.”

“You’re not letting go?”

Ji Hyeok said firmly, his expression resolute.

“…She’s sleeping. I was just putting her to bed and leaving, so just go.”

For a moment, rage consumed Taeseok, and like a man possessed, he shoved Ji Hyeok aside and stood again at the door. But Ji Hyeok was no pushover either.

“Don’t wake her up. She cried a lot. I don’t know why, but she was crying.”
