After leaving the office building, I walked for a long while.

It was the same situation as two years ago, but today I didn’t cry. Maybe just not crying was already a big achievement. I patted myself on the back, thinking that way.

Back then, I cried because it felt like the sky was collapsing—but now that the sky had already fallen, there was no need to cry anymore. It was simply the worst getting even worse.

Should’ve learned how to judge people better by now. What on earth had I been doing for the past two years, that Ji Hyeonjeong could still strut around so arrogantly? Yeoreum laughed bitterly, her mouth tasting sour.

He was the kind of man who, if he believed someone was his, would never doubt them—not even an ounce. Foolishly so. Even back then, when all the evidence in the tax evasion report pointed straight to Choi Yeoreum, he still refused to believe it.

“So what? He despises me to death now.”

Just yesterday, Taeseok had relentlessly tormented Yeoreum. He ordered her to rewrite every single newly written episode from scratch, claiming none of them pleased him, and kept entering and exiting her small writing room constantly throughout the writing sessions.

He’d demand she make him another cup of coffee even though one was already there, or stand right in front of her for ten whole minutes, insisting he needed to check how much she’d written.

Yeoreum silently endured all of it.

She acted utterly like a lifeless doll. Once drama filming started, she wouldn’t be able to see him often anyway. At most, it’d last a month. She had firmly locked away her heart and was living like an empty puppet with no heartbeat.

“You’re late.”

Taeseok frowned as he opened the door.

Dressed plainly in casual slacks and a cotton T-shirt, his simple outfit couldn’t hide his striking presence. Today, especially, his gaze was unusually intense. Yeoreum took a small breath.

The tendons in his wrist tensed, his shoulders were solidly muscled, and his voice was deep.

Yeoreum deliberately ignored all of it and stepped inside.
