“Why? Thought you’d get along well with Taeseok after the divorce, but it’s not going well? It’s been a few years already.”

“Stop it. I told you it’s not like that.”

Jihyeong irritably stuffed a piece of pork cutlet into her mouth. The sauce in this restaurant was always too sweet. Not a pleasant sweetness, but a forced, unnaturally sugary taste. Just like the current relationship between the two.

Well, what can you expect from a pork cutlet that costs only 9,000 won?

“Whoa, look at that loud voice. Going to start yelling?”

Shin Mincheol reacted as if it were no big deal, continuing to slice his pork cutlet. To someone, it might taste cheap, or even like junk food, but for him, it was a taste of pleasant memories.

“Hey, maybe we should redo our asset division. The more I think about it, I feel like I made a bad deal. Taeseok earns too much. It wasn’t just about taking care of Ji-hyeok.”

His teasing tone was clear, but Jihyeong didn’t see it that way.

“What asset division? Stop talking nonsense.”

“Just saying.”

He shrugged it off half-jokingly and continued eating his pork cutlet. His evasive behavior troubled her. What did he know, and how much? Unable to ask directly, her frustration grew.

“Anyway, Jihyeong. Make hay while the sun shines. You see how well Ji-hyeok is doing these days? He’s gearing up to surpass Taeseok. That refreshing guy. Cheon Ji-hyeok has it all – looks, personality, ambition. Taeseok should be getting nervous.”

She was exasperated.

True, Cheon Ji-hyeok’s name was rising in popularity, but he was nowhere near Taeseok’s level.

If comparisons were to be made, maybe Lee Won-woo or Yoo Gang-yeol. And even then, it’s only when comparing, while Taeseok is in a league of his own.

Dare to compare Cheon Ji-hyeok with him…

Jihyeong put down her knife and said,

“Enough.”

She lost her appetite, the pork cutlet more than half left, and rinsed her mouth with water.

“Don’t talk recklessly. It’s Taeseok, not just any actor.”

Shin Mincheol still had a half-smiling face as he looked at Jihyeong. Whether it was a sneer or a smile, its meaning was unclear, making it an unpleasant smile.

“Yeah. Jihyeong’s Taeseok. Be careful.”

Shin Mincheol lightly apologized with a fork in his hand.

Jihyeong suddenly thought of Taeseok’s recent approach to Yeoreum. An inexplicable sense of unease clouded her mind, making her anxious.

Unable to visit him, with calls rarely answered, she felt Taeseok slowly drifting away. This anxiety made the meal even more annoying.

Taeseok finally received a message from Yeoreum three days after the night she was drunk.

[I’ve been busy. Don’t worry, I got home safely that night.]

His heart sank, whether from relief or excitement he couldn’t tell, but a smile indeed appeared on his face. Eager to see her, he quickly replied, but it was a complete mess.

[The shooting has started, so the script should be finalized. Always be on standby in case you’re not satisfied with anything.]

Crazy.

As Taeseok debated whether to smash his phone or his hand, a brief reply came.

[Okay. Then, take care.]

The reply was impenetrable. Was Yeoreum made of steel?
The misunderstanding of that night, and the resolution I had firmed up in my heart, all needed to be addressed, but Yeoreum cut off the conversation abruptly, giving no leeway. Taeseok was left restless and uneasy as the day waned.

The full-fledged shooting began.

The first part of the shoot was set in the past, so most of the locations were universities. Four campuses in Seoul were booked for the shoot, and today’s filming was at Seohan University, located in one of the busiest areas.

Yeoreum stopped by the set upon the director’s request.

“Awesome. It’s Taeseok!”

“Hey, hey. Let’s hurry.”

As Yeoreum walked through the campus, groups of excited female students rushed past her, heading somewhere. They were at the age when they were more beautiful than flowers. Yeoreum slightly smiled, overhearing their giggling chatter.

“I’m going to cry. Taeseok oppa is here.”

“Cheon Ji-hyeok is here too.”

Another group also ran towards the same direction. Perhaps infected by their excitement, Yeoreum’s heart fluttered needlessly.

‘This is a good time.’

It was a clear autumn day. The sun cast a reddish glow through the maple leaves, enhancing the weather’s charm.

Walking through the campus, Yeoreum felt nostalgic. The youthful laughter around her sparked her imagination and creativity.

‘Maybe I should write a youthful story for season two.’

She walked, crunching the fallen leaves underfoot, indulging in various fantasies. Then she suddenly remembered that Seohan University was Taeseok’s alma mater. They had secretly visited on a snowy winter night for a date.

“It’s really nice here when it snows. Let’s walk along the row of trees from the end of the engineering building’s back road.”

“Wow. Your school is really pretty. It’s my first time at Seohan University.”

At that time, Taeseok took off his hat and sunglasses. Yeoreum panicked and hopped around, trying to stop him.
