Seo Tae-seok almost threw down the coffee, not caring that more than half of it had spilled. No one at this moment felt like leisurely sipping coffee.

“I’m staying here.”

“That’s right.”

“Secretary Kim’s choice.”

“No, it’s not just what I want, but just in case.”

“I don’t like it.”

Secretary Kim’s expression stiffened momentarily and then relaxed.

“Whether there’s a scandal or photos are taken, I’ll handle it.”

“Seo Tae-seok, you are the top actor in our country. You need to be careful.”

“I don’t invite uninvited people into my house. Leave.”

Despite the firm rejection, Secretary Kim stood her ground, insisting more vigorously to persuade Seo Tae-seok, as he had expected.

“I won’t make you uncomfortable. I can just sit quietly in a corner.”

Why is she doing this much?

“I can be there, but unobtrusively.”

For what reason, exactly?

“I’ll stay quietly wherever you want me to, okay?”

“Really?”

Tae-seok glanced at Yeoreum, sitting quietly, and then looked coldly at Secretary Kim.

“If you must stay, then hole up in the study and don’t come out. Can you do that?”

“I can. I will.”

“But remember, don’t come out at all. If you do, you won’t ever be allowed in my house again. Can you promise that?”

“Yes, I get it.”

Secretary Kim hastily agreed.

“But there’s no chair in the study. Should I move to another room?”

That was true. Since he had turned the storage room into a workspace.

“Just give me any chair. I’ll take it.”

“Really?”

Secretary Kim’s desperation was becoming increasingly bizarre.

“Then, take that chair now. The dining chair over there.”

Tae-seok commanded.

“Now?”

“Yes, now. Take it and don’t come out.”

Secretary Kim nodded and stood up, moving towards the dining table.

Tae-seok’s dining chairs were high-end, handmade artisan furniture from premium wood. In comparison to mass-produced dining chairs, they were very large and heavy.

Although not as big as a sofa, the chair was certainly cumbersome for a woman to lift alone. Secretary Kim hesitated, trying to lift it with both hands, adjusting her grip several times.

Tae-seok had no intention of helping, and Yeoreum secretly thought it served her right.

Finally, Secretary Kim awkwardly carried the chair into the study. The study door slammed shut.

Then, Tae-seok abruptly stood up and grabbed Yeoreum’s wrist, who was sitting across from him. As she got up in a fluster, he spoke.

“Your bag.”

Yeoreum’s gaze drifted to the sofa, and Tae-seok swiftly picked it up.

“Your phone.”

He snatched her phone, quickly turned it off.

“Come with me.”

Still holding her wrist, he headed to the entrance. Yeoreum almost stumbled, trying to put on her shoes, but he said.

“Just wear the slippers.”

She barely managed to put on slippers and followed him out. The door lock clicked shut.

Pausing briefly in front of the elevator, Tae-seok entered the emergency staircase.

He glanced up and down, then decided to go up. His apartment was on the top floor, so going up led to the roof entrance, which was deserted.

Tae-seok’s long strides forced Yeoreum to almost run to keep up. Reaching the rooftop entrance, he finally released her hand.

“Why are you doing this?”

As Yeoreum raised her voice, he pressed her against the wall and placed a finger on her lips.
Still breathless, Yeoreum’s heavy breathing clung hotly to Tae-seok’s fingers. Tae-seok ignored the tingling sensation and stepped even closer to her.

“Shh. Be quiet.”

He moved closer to her.

Now, Yeoreum was completely trapped between the wall and his body, her breath still uneven.

Just a little run and she’s already out of breath.

But the sound of her breathing in this secretive space was not at all displeasing.

Tae-seok narrowed the gap further, stepping closer. Yeoreum fluttered her eyelashes and looked towards her chest.

It couldn’t be helped. It would be worse to lift her head and meet his eyes. So, all she could see was his chest.

The sudden closeness of his large upper body made Yeoreum tremble slightly.

“You’re good. Just stay quiet for a moment.”

Tae-seok spoke in a falsely serious tone.

“Why are you doing this?”

Yeoreum quietly countered.

“We’re dodging Secretary Kim. Cooperate.”

Tae-seok read the tension in Yeoreum’s voice and smiled slyly. Yes, that’s it.

He was thrilled to the core.

I forgot who I am. I’m Seo Tae-seok.

Not a pushover, but Seo Tae-seok. The actor most loved by South Korean women in their 20s and 30s.

The object of every woman’s desire and the man they want the most. If I set my mind to it, winning a woman’s heart is no big deal, but I’ve been forgetting myself lately.

Shake a little, Yeoreum.

After Yeoreum regained her breath, the sound of Tae-seok’s door lock beeped, unlocking. The sound of a woman’s heels rushed down the hallway and towards the emergency staircase.

Creak.

The sound of heels echoed just one floor below.

She must have thought of going down, peered down once, and finding no one, the footsteps stopped.

“Phew.”

Male lead is a Divorced Husband

She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.

After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.

She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.

But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…

Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

――

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!

The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.

That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”

Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”

The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”

That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”

Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”

The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.

Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.

“She was originally a ‘she’!”

At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.

The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
