Hong, the manager with a stack of scripts, arrived early in the morning at Tae-seok’s house. He deliberately entered with loud steps and almost threw two large shopping bags on the floor, one of which burst open, spilling scripts everywhere.

“Ugh.”

“What’s all this?”

“Your next project candidates.”

Tae-seok narrowed his brows.

“I’m not interested in any projects other than this drama.”

“It’s the CEO’s order.”

Hong cleaned up the burst bag, picking up each script and stacking them neatly on the table.

“Ah, those marked with Post-its are the ones you should pay special attention to.”

“…”

“And this. A rom-com film scheduled for a late next year crank-in. Highly competitive. A project by Director Ha Sang-tae. And this one’s a noir film, where the director insists on you as the lead.”

“Take them away.”

Tae-seok turned and walked towards the kitchen, speaking over his shoulder in a clear sign of refusal.

“Ah, I don’t know. The CEO has been nagging me since yesterday to bring these to you.”

Hong clicked his tongue.

“I told her you wouldn’t like it, but she won’t listen to me.”

“…”

“What can I do as a salaried employee but follow orders? Anyway, I’ve delivered the message, don’t blame me later. Just make me a cup of coffee.”

Hong leaned back on the sofa.

“Choi Yeoreum, the writer, will be here at 1 PM. Clean up these scripts from the attic.”

“Ah, Yeoreum.”

Hong sat up.

“I wanted to see her, but we keep missing each other. I should contact her now that I remember.”

He took out his phone and started typing a message. Tae-seok, placing coffee in front of him, frowned. The scripts piled up like a mountain, leaving no space for a meeting with Yeoreum.

Tae-seok grabbed an empty box and started sweeping the scripts into it. Hong watched him and his phone alternately, then commented softly.

“You were supposed to read all those…”

Getting no response from Tae-seok, Hong buried his face back in his phone. What really upset Tae-seok came next.

“Huh? Yeoreum is at Cheon Ji-hyuk’s house.”

“Welcome, Writer Choi Yeoreum. I’m a fan of your drama.”

Ji-hyuk’s mother greeted Yeoreum with a warm smile, while a small dog barked fiercely at her side. Yeoreum smiled, her eyes forming crescents.

“Hello, ma’am. I came to see the dog.”

She held a basket of fruit she bought in front of the house, and the dog sniffed around it curiously.

– Woof! Woof! Bark!

“Happy to see you, Jjong. Remember me? I’m glad you’re healthy.”

Ji-hyuk picked up the dog and headed into the living room.

“Ugh, our little king. Come in, Noona.”

It was a neat house bathed in warm sunlight. Yeoreum repeatedly said she would stay for only 10 minutes and entered the living room. However, the dog’s playful antics quickly melted her resolve.

“He’s really, so cute.”

Ji-hyuk’s mother brought out some fruit, and the dog happily wagged its tail after getting a piece of apple.

Yeoreum’s crescent eyes never seemed to straighten.

Then, a call came in.

Typically preferring silent mode, Yeoreum had switched to vibration due to Tae-seok’s nagging. Missing even one call would lead to his endless complaints, so she hadn’t switched back to silent mode.

A man saved as , three dots, vibrated insistently. Yeoreum found it awkward to talk to him in this setting and thus didn’t answer.

A message promptly arrived.

[Writer Choi Yeoreum, come home immediately.] [If you don’t, I’ll come to get you. Where are you?] Yeoreum checked the time, worried it was already past 1 PM, but it was only 11 AM. She felt a surge of annoyance at this new method of harassment.

[I’m still within my writing schedule.]

After sending the brief reply, she tossed her phone into her bag. It seemed endless if she started being dragged into every small thing. She tried to erase the lingering image of the man from her mind and smiled at the dog showing its belly.

“Are you ignoring my call?”

[I’m still within my writing schedule.]

No reply came after that.

Tae-seok, considering whether to give her 50 billion won or not, was infuriated by her lack of earnestness. He paced rapidly around the house.

What could she be doing at Cheon Ji-hyuk’s house?

He rubbed his chin, pondering thousands of possibilities. What could happen between a man and a woman in the same space?

Tae-seok recalled the times he had Yeoreum sitting before him.

He remembered gazing at her softly fluttering eyelashes, sometimes longer, admiring her beauty like windblown grass. His gaze naturally shifted to her nose, philtrum, and then lips.

Her lips were red and plump, sometimes irresistibly moist.

And the delicate collarbone that extended from her white neck…

“Damn it!”

Tae-seok suddenly shouted.

“Where does Cheon Ji-hyuk live?”

“Don’t know.”

“Find out.”

“Do it yourself.”

Hong replied indifferently, turning his head away. It was best not to engage with a ranting Tae-seok. Tae-seok growled at Hong’s back.

“Find. Out. Hong. And you can leave now.”

Hong reluctantly took out his phone and messaged Yeoreum.

[Yeoreum, where’s Ji-hyuk’s house?]
