“Why is this happening?”
The room inside looked exactly as it was in her memory.
Bright white interior, stylish lighting, a 10-person conference table, and a bookshelf filling the wall – ‘Yeoreum’s Room’ still served its original purpose.
Why would a man, pointing the sword of revenge, leave this room untouched? She couldn’t think of any reason. Yeoreum, as if enchanted, stepped inside.
It felt like time had stopped. A complex mix of indescribable emotions washed over her as she ran her hand over the table. The smooth wood grain slid under her palm.
Looking around, she noticed a notepad and a notebook at the end of the table, with her casually scribbled words still trapped inside.
Then, a single unfamiliar object in this familiar space caught her eye – a small, round container.
She reached out thoughtlessly and picked it up. That’s when it happened.
“What are you doing?”
A chilly voice came from behind. Startled, Yeoreum dropped the container. It hit the floor, splitting in two, and spilled out a ring. The ring shone briefly before rolling away and disappearing.

“Ah.”
Yeoreum looked at the ring in astonishment, then turned around and apologized.
“I’m sorry.”
Tae-seok said nothing.
“I’ll pick it up, I’ll put it back.”
Yeoreum leaned down to look for the ring, which seemed to have gone under the bookshelf. Without a long stick, she might need to move the shelf.
What a nuisance. She knelt and reached as far as she could. Then Tae-seok grabbed her wrist and pulled her up.
Their eyes met.
“There are limits to shamelessness.”
Tae-seok spoke, not hiding his anger.

“How dare you enter this room?”
“I’m sorry.”
“You even touched someone else’s belongings.”
“I’m… sorry…”
“Why? Do you still see this room as yours?”
Entering without permission was definitely wrong, but this room had no particular secrets. She should have just closed the door and left. Why was he so angry? Her wrist was uncomfortable in his grip, but Yeoreum couldn’t find the words to speak.
“I’m sorry.”
All she could do was apologize.

He spoke for the first time in an hour.
Following his gesture, Yeoreum saw the small room that used to be a storage space. She nodded. A desk and chair were all she needed. Being away from Tae-seok, even the living room seemed more comfortable.
“I’ll head to the workspace, then.”
“Hold on.”
Yeoreum sat back down as she was about to stand.
“Miss Choi Yeoreum.”
“Yes.”
“Don’t touch anything in this house without permission. The only area you’re allowed to work in is that small room.”
“…Yes. I’m sorry.”
Yeoreum quietly matched her toes and stared at the pattern on her slippers. She wasn’t sure if it was okay to look at anything else. She could feel Tae-seok’s piercing gaze on her head.

“If you cross the line again, I won’t hold back.”
“Yes. I’m sorry.”
“Are you even thinking before answering?”
His voice rose unexpectedly. Surprised, Yeoreum slightly raised her head. His eyes were burning fiercely, as if they could engulf her.
“Is ‘sorry’ all you can say?”
“No, I really am sorry.”
“Do you only look up when I’m angry?”
“…”
Yeoreum didn’t respond. She was learning that silence was better than answering his unfathomable questions. Finally, he sighed heavily.
“Go ahead.”

“Yes.”
She got up as soon as she was allowed. Walking a few steps, she gathered the courage to look back.
“Um. I’m sorry, but…”
“…”
“May I have a glass of water?”
[Star Icon] In a room filled with bright morning sunlight, Yeoreum stood sparkling. Even though she was just standing there, Tae-seok thought she seemed somewhat radiant. This twisted his feelings. He felt like his sanctuary had been violated. It was a place filled with memories. Just because they broke up messily didn’t mean Tae-seok’s love at that time had changed. It was oddly comforting when he was struggling, so he left it as it was. Now, the place was no longer ‘Yeoreum’s Room,’ but Tae-seok’s retreat.
He only intended to tell her to come out. But then he saw Yeoreum holding the ring. He was momentarily angry but could have tolerated that.
As Yeoreum frantically searched for the ring, a burning anger surged inside him. Eventually, Tae-seok couldn’t hold back anymore and pulled her up, unleashing his anger upon seeing her frightened eyes.
“Am I going crazy?”

It really wasn’t something to be so angry about. Tae-seok considered himself quite patient, not an immature person unable to control his emotions.
‘Why did I react like that?’
Lost in thought, the silence stretched on.
In the uncomfortable quiet, Yeoreum just looked down at the floor. The sudden rise in anger again was inexplicable. Tae-seok realized he had subtly changed.
Had he grabbed her wrist too harshly?
Annoyed, he eventually sent her to the storage room. But then, that small woman shook his heart with her words.
“May I have a glass of water?”
It felt like a hard blow to the back of his head.
Tae-seok touched his forehead, letting out a ridiculous laugh. He had been so inconsiderate.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
