Her question seemed trivial, almost laughable. An actor’s personal life wasn’t the CEO’s business. Tae-seok dismissed it cleanly.
“If you don’t want to ruin the drama, just follow my lead. I’ll let you go when the time’s right.”
“…”
“You’re not an aspiring writer anymore, right? You have social status, a lot to lose. Be careful. One article about Yeoreum playing with and then dumping Seo Tae-seok, and your life’s over.”
Tears finally fell from Yeoreum’s eyes.
She had endured and held on for so long, hiding away, living as if dead.
There were times she thought about giving up her dreams, times of deep despair. The man who had already ruined his life was threatening to end hers again. Yeoreum had only just begun to love her life again.
A hot lump settled in her chest. But Tae-seok glanced at the floor and then back at her with indifference.
“Of course. The threat of your life ending finally gets a reaction.”
Tae-seok reached out again, pulling Yeoreum’s chin toward him, forcing her to meet his eyes. Their breaths were audibly low. The eyes and lips he had once praised endlessly were right before him.

He wasn’t magnanimous enough to forgive.
Nor had he loved her merely enough to forget.
Tae-seok felt a simultaneous urge to strangle Yeoreum and to kiss her as if nothing had happened. It was because she kept making that innocent face that was so unbecoming of Choi Yeoreum.
“Yeoreum.”
The small woman barely reached his shoulder.
Her red lips moved as if to speak, and Tae-seok’s gaze lingered and then pulled away repeatedly from her delicate neckline.
As his breath deepened, Tae-seok finally released her face and simultaneously snatched the cellphone from her hand.
Tae-seok swiftly wrote his phone number on her phone and made a call.
“Save it.”
He forcibly entered his number and handed the phone back to its owner.
“Whenever I contact you, come running. No matter what.”

Tae-seok turned and kicked open the door as he left. Yeoreum’s fingertips tingled. Just a brief touch while handing back the phone had set her insides churning. It shouldn’t affect her anymore, but his eyes were surprisingly tender.
Seeing him after so long had stirred a whirlwind of emotions.
[Star Icon]In the now-empty waiting room, only his familiar scent lingered. Yeoreum stood still, trying to steady her breathing. She wished she could physically untangle her jumbled thoughts with her hands.
She thought everything had returned to its rightful place. She had buried Seo Tae-seok in her heart and achieved her dream. Just when everything seemed perfect, he reappeared, unsettling her life.
She clenched her empty fist.
‘What is he trying to do?’
She had never imagined they would meet in one work. She wouldn’t have cast Seo Tae-seok, nor could she have even if she wanted to. She was just a rookie writer, and he was an actor in a league of his own.
All her hard work had come crashing down.
“Let’s get one thing clear. I never agreed to break up.”

That dangerous voice.
“Just follow my lead, and when the time’s right, I’ll let you go my way.”
Seo Tae-seok intended to ruin Choi Yeoreum. Amidst the confusion, this was crystal clear. He wanted revenge.
‘But why?’
There had been ample time for revenge in the past two years. He did nothing, just stayed quiet, and now he suddenly talked of revenge. Was it intentional, waiting for her most successful moment to strike?
Yeoreum walked out. Even if she couldn’t escape, she had to try her best to struggle. She walked through the crowd of staff and equipment to find Director Lee.
“Director.”
“Choi Writer, did you see Seo Tae-seok? About the script, right? Make sure it fits.”
“No.”
Yeoreum opened her tired, sigh-laden eyes.

She had done everything to erase Seo Tae-seok from her life. She threw away her phone, changed her contact details, and hastily left her house, dumping everything. She hid in a rural seaside town for half a year. Even that wasn’t enough; she survived on sleeping pills.
Ignoring Tae-seok’s pleas not to leave, she thought she had already received her punishment over the years.
“I don’t like Seo Tae-seok, Director. I won’t do it.”
“Um. Eh? What?”
Director Lee, reviewing schedules with an assistant director, widened his eyes in shock.
“What did you say?”
“I won’t work with Seo Tae-seok. I don’t like him.”
Director Lee waved the assistant director away.
“But we’ve already settled everything. You agreed too. Are you going to pay the penalty fee, Choi Writer?”
“I agreed because I didn’t know it was Seo Tae-seok.”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!
The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
