Taeseok’s hospitalization happened quickly and discreetly.
During filming, the rumor that the lead actor got injured spread, and, under the director’s swift decision that it would be best to keep things under wraps, a secret order was issued to the entire staff.
They couldn’t silence everyone forever, but they wanted to buy time until Taeseok regained consciousness, at the very least.
“…Don’t make a fuss.”
Throwing just one word at Director Hong, who had almost run over in tears, Taeseok lost consciousness.
The director personally went to the hospital, completed the procedures, and urged the medical staff to prioritize security. Afterward, he left the hospital room for accident recovery, blaming the person in charge and preparing the defective vehicle. He repeatedly instructed Director Hong to contact him if anything happened.
Alone in the room, Director Hong wiped his face, muttering curses under his breath.
For the time being, since it was a pre-produced drama, there was a lot of footage already shot, so there was no urgent need for filming.
Even without reducing the amount of footage, if they adjusted the schedule well, they could shoot intensively after Taeseok’s discharge. Fortunately, Taeseok’s injury wasn’t that severe. It was a stroke of luck.
“Alive and kicking.”
Because safety measures were taken, there were hardly any injured areas. Although there was a slight fracture in the 10th rib, it was a minor fracture that could be healed soon, and there were only minor bruises elsewhere.
“But why isn’t he waking up, this rascal.”
Director Hong sighed, looking resentfully at Taeseok, who hadn’t woken up all day. The moment Taeseok’s car floated in the air, it felt like the whole world was falling apart. It was a moment when he realized how precious of a friend this guy was.
“You don’t have to realize such things; just hope that something like this won’t happen again in the future.”
Director Hong, who had vented his complaints with a hoarse voice, pondered for a while and eventually contacted Jihyun Jung.
Although he didn’t want to talk to that woman anymore, anyway, Taeseok was currently an actor under HJ Planning. Considering media response issues, it was only right for the representative to be informed.
Moreover, since Taeseok was acting as if he was getting along well with Jihyun Jung on the surface, there was no need to cut off contact and raise suspicions.
“Open your eyes, you bad guy.”
Director Hong continued to curse. Just in case, he also contacted K. Unable to contact Summer, he gave up on the call after much hesitation.
Alone, scratching his head anxiously, when the door to the hospital room opened with a creak.
Tick-tock.
Making a shoe sound as she entered, the doctor looked at Taeseok’s complexion with an unknown expression. She checked his breathing, pulse, and body temperature meticulously while readjusting the intravenous solution and examining the chart.
The doctor was doing tasks that a nurse should have done, but there was no discomfort at all. Instead, Director Hong willingly made room for her so that she could observe Taeseok more closely.
In her late 50s, the sophisticated eyes and jawline of the doctor hinted at how beautiful a woman she must have been in her youth. Strong facial features and a smooth facial contour resembled someone quite closely.
“Our son. The injury doesn’t seem to be too serious, but he still hasn’t woken up. Minwoo.”
Taeseok’s attending physician opened her mouth with a matter-of-fact tone, but she couldn’t hide the deeply furrowed brow. While fitting a blood pressure monitor on Taeseok’s sleeping arm, she gently wiped his face with one hand.
“I’m sorry. Mother.”
“Why should you be sorry? It’s that guy who should be sorry for showing up like this again.”
His blood pressure was high. The doctor removed the monitor with a stern expression.
“Did you take medicine again?”
“I’m sorry.”
“The blood pressure is high. Not good. This seems like a side effect of a sedative.”
“…”
“What happened? Tell me.”
Director Hong just bowed his head deeply.
Kim Jung-im, a professor of neuropsychiatry at Seohan University Hospital. Not many people knew that she was Taeseok’s mother.
She wasn’t the type to gossip about family relations here and there, so even her colleagues only knew that she had a well-raised stepson.
However, most of her colleagues would probably find out about it now because they had seen quite a few instances of Kim Jung-im, usually calm, running like crazy.
“Minwoo.”
He was a son who couldn’t get much attention since he was busy from an early age. More than his mother, he had to receive the touch of his grandmother and nanny more often. Despite that, he grew up smart and remarkably capable.
Whether he became a doctor, an actor, or anything else was fine with Kim Jung-im. What she wanted for her son was not a specific occupation, but solely his happiness. Even if he said he would spend the money his parents earned frivolously throughout his life, she would have allowed it with a smile.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
