Realizing the gravity of the matter, Yor also lowered her voice. Jemma scanned the area once more—even though everyone was off on their own time and the kitchen was clearly empty, she couldn’t shake her unease, as if someone might still be lurking.

“A while ago, I passed by the Duke’s room and the door was slightly ajar. It seemed the head maid had left it open while cleaning. But strangely, there was this sharp, metallic smell—like blood.”

Normally, a specific maid cleaned the Duke’s room, but from a certain day onward, the head maid and the butler took over the task themselves.
