The Runaway Female Lead Doesn't Run Away (13 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 46
After the suffocating meal ended, Dahlia sat in the drawing room with Lloyd, using tea as an excuse.
No sooner had the maids left the tea and exited than Dahlia, as if her tension had finally eased, leaned back into the sofa and patted her chest gently.
Though she’d barely eaten anything—just a few bites of greens—it still felt as if something heavy sat on her stomach, making her feel oppressed.
‘If I have to share another meal like this, I’ll collapse for sure.’
Her anxiety over potentially causing trouble had been the very root of her distress.
Indeed, if another such dining occasion arose, she might truly find herself face-to-face with a physician that very day.
Thus, for the sake of her own health and well-being, she resolved again and again never to allow the three of them to share a meal together again.
Leaning her head back against the sofa headrest, Dahlia felt slightly more at ease and glanced sidelong at Lloyd.
Lloyd, too, seemed uneasy from the meal; since earlier, he’d been staring into space with a deeply serious expression.
“Lloyd. His Grace isn’t even here—why do you look so troubled? Is something on your mind?”
At Dahlia’s question, he drew in a breath, then tilted his head with a look of discomfort.
“It just feels strange. The way he suddenly started asking about me… and he didn’t even ask how we became close, did he?”
Now that he mentioned it, Clayton hadn’t asked many questions at all, despite the fact that he surely must have had plenty of curiosities about them.
At the time, she’d merely considered it fortunate, but upon reflection, it did seem odd. And as if to emphasize it wasn’t over yet, Lloyd continued.
“And about that villa in the Eastern Province—do you happen to know anything about it?”

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)
A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage
Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.
In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.
As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.
Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.
She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.
“Brother, come home with me.”
