The Returned Father of My Child (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
“You stormed out so confidently earlier—did you at least put out the urgent fire?”
“I’m sorry.”
“What are you going to do about this stain on my shoes?”
“I’ll compensate you for it.”
“Ha! CEO Han Bo Mi—must be rolling in money. Do you even know how much these cost?”
“…… I’ll make it right, no matter how long it takes.”
“Look at you—a servant who’s risen high. I’ll send you an invoice for the shoes. But that’s not the real issue—it’s your attitude toward work. No matter how much we’re collaborating, I’m still the team leader while we’re on this project, and you need to follow my instructions. Right?”
Ga Young grew increasingly pleased with herself as she scolded Bo Mi, who kept apologizing meekly.
“Disrespecting me is the same as disrespecting our Dowon Group.”
“I was flustered today…… I really am sorry.”
“If we start making exceptions for everyone’s personal circumstances, how can the organization possibly function? Don’t you lack awareness as a CEO?”
Bo Mi bit her lip, hurt by Ga Young’s criticism. She knew better than anyone that she truly was lacking as a CEO.
“At this rate, why would anyone trust Narae Creative with work? Do you want our contract terminated?”
“Team Leader Yeon Ga Young.”
Ga Young turned her head happily toward the man calling her name.
“Man…… Managing Director!”
“As far as I know, Team Leader Yeon Ga Young doesn’t have the authority to terminate the contract with Narae Creative.”
“Oh…… No, it’s just…… CEO Han Bo Mi left her post during working hours without even asking my permission, so I gave her a word of caution—and she poured coffee all over me!”
Ga Young thrust the toe of her shoe, bearing a stain smaller than a pinky fingernail, toward Jae Kyung as she complained.
“It really was an urgent matter. I apologize if I caused you any inconvenience.”
Bo Mi offered her apology in a weak voice.
Could that urgent matter have been meeting Yeon Ga Jin?
Jae Kyung felt as though his insides were twisting as he looked at Bo Mi.
“Narae Creative is a collaborating partner and an equal party in this joint project. If there’s an urgent matter, acting independently shouldn’t be an issue as long as it leads to positive project outcomes.”
“Managing Director! But this is about Dowon Group’s prestige—”
“Team Leader Yeon Ga Young, wouldn’t the success or failure of this project benefit the group’s prestige far more?”
“……”
Ga Young glared at Bo Mi, shoulders trembling with frustration, after realizing Jae Kyung wasn’t taking her side.
It was all Han Bo Mi’s fault she was being treated this way by Jae Kyung.
“Managing Director, but!”
Ga Young clung to Jae Kyung, her voice thick with wounded indignation.
“I have great expectations for how ably Team Leader Yeon Ga Young leads her team.”
Jae Kyung lifted the corner of his lips slightly, concealing an icy look as if trying to brush off the bothersome Ga Young.
“I’m counting on you.”
Ga Young stared at him, momentarily dazed by the brief smile Jae Kyung had just given her.
Right. He probably didn’t defend me only because criticizing a small company like Narae Creative might look like bullying—social decorum forced his hand.
There’s no reason for Older Brother Jae Kyung to treat me worse than Han Bo Mi, who’s just some outsider, when I’m his fiancée.
Look—he even said he’s “counting on me.”
Ga Young cupped both cheeks, lost in fantasy. Could it be working? She’d complained to Hae Young that Jae Kyung hadn’t taken her out to eat, and now this?
“Please do count on me. I’ll deliver results that’ll completely satisfy you, Managing Director.”
“I’ll trust in Team Leader Yeon Ga Young’s capabilities, then.”
Unaware of the mockery laced in Jae Kyung’s words, Ga Young remained convinced he was cheering her on and continued to beam happily.
Jae Kyung, however, was growing weary of Ga Young’s childish insistence on her rights as his fiancée.
Even the “urgent matter” for which Hae Young had summoned him turned out to be nothing more than asking him to have a meal with Ga Young.
The moment Jae Kyung entered, Hae Young immediately lashed out.
‘Are you ignoring me? Do you have any idea how upset Ga Young must be to come all the way here herself?’
‘I’ve been too busy with work to pay attention.’
‘You’re not the only one working, and you still eat meals, don’t you? Don’t give me flimsy excuses just to defy this old woman—go meet Ga Young.’
‘That kind of interaction is unnecessary.’
At Jae Kyung’s reply, Hae Young’s face crumpled like wrinkled paper. She disliked his behavior—it reeked of Do Won Il’s rootless bloodline.
Trending
‘Jae Kyung.’
Yeon Hee shook her head and tugged at Jae Kyung’s sleeve.
‘I’ll invite you for a meal when I find the time.’
Faced with Yeon Hee’s concerned gaze, Jae Kyung ultimately had no choice but to relent a little. Hae Young, after all, harbored open hostility toward Jae Kyung—the son of Shin Mi Hee, once the mistress of Chairman Do Jun Seok, who now lay unconscious in a hospital bed.
Jae Kyung himself was also investigating whether Hae Young had been involved in the incident that had happened to him six years ago. In this situation, it was unnecessary to openly reveal his resentment toward her.
Their marriage might be like a truce—but if it had to happen, so be it. Since he’d never placed value on romance or love, a marriage of convenience felt perfectly natural to him.
But still……
Jae Kyung withdrew his cold gaze from Ga Young and called out to Bo Mi.
“CEO Han Bo Mi, I’d like to have a brief word with you—do you have a moment?”
“Oh—yes, Managing Director.”
As Jae Kyung headed toward his office, Bo Mi hurried after him.
“Managing Director, is there something you’d like to……?”
She wanted to ask why he’d run so eagerly to see Ga Jin, but of course she couldn’t voice such a question. Jae Kyung swallowed his own turbulent emotions and picked up a tablet.
“There’s an error in the presentation materials—I’ve flagged it for you.”
“Oh…… Thank you.”
Bo Mi stepped closer to Jae Kyung and looked at the tablet screen. Her slightly protruding lips, focused downward on the screen, looked almost cute.
Ha—am I losing my mind?
Ever since meeting this woman, Jae Kyung had been shaken by feelings he’d never experienced in his life.
Last night’s dream of walking through a forest had been unlike his usual ones—the faceless woman now clearly bore Han Bo Mi’s features.
Maybe this strange feeling was because of that dream.
Bo Mi’s long eyelashes fluttered softly. The faint smudge of mascara at the corner of her eye seemed proof she’d been crying, and it bothered him.
Who had made her cry? Was it Ga Jin? Or Ga Young?
Jae Kyung clenched his hand, suppressing the urge to wipe away the tear stains beneath her eyes.
“I’ve checked it. I’ll revise and re-upload it.”
Bo Mi lifted her head, her expression clear and open.
Perhaps it was relief from having found Yeo Reum—but suddenly, standing so close to Jae Kyung felt overwhelming. Memories of last night flooded back, heat rushed to her face, and she quickly averted her eyes from his gaze.
Since when had he been staring at her like this?
“CEO Han Bo Mi.”
Jae Kyung’s voice resonated softly as he called her name.
Why does even your voice sound so much like his? For a moment, she thought Nak Won was calling her. Memories of the time she’d spent with Nak Won came rushing back.
She had abandoned everything and fled impulsively to that mountain village where she’d lived with her mother as a child. After all her hard work on a project had been stolen by her superior—and then she’d been framed on top of it—she’d run away to Nak Won Village, overwhelmed by helplessness, despair, and betrayal.
She’d wanted to hide somewhere with no people, because she’d grown to hate people……
Yet there, she’d met her fate.
His breathtakingly handsome face had caught her eye, and her heart had raced at the clear, resonant sound of his voice.
“My spring.”
Every time Nak Won called her name, her heart had hammered just like this.
Afraid Jae Kyung might hear the foolish pounding of her heart, Bo Mi looked only at her toes.
“Yes, Managing Director.”
“May I ask why you left without permission—the reason Team Leader Yeon Ga Young got so angry?”
Jae Kyung was still bothered by the fact that Bo Mi had met Ga Jin. His nature made it impossible to simply let such things sit unresolved inside him.
“I apologize for causing you concern over a personal matter.”
“I’m just curious—how important was that personal matter to you?”
“……”
Summer—the treasure Nak Won had left behind—was more important to Bo Mi than anything else in the world.
“What could possibly matter more than company business?”
Overwhelmed by Jae Kyung’s intensity, Bo Mi took a step back.
But the more she retreated, the more Jae Kyung closed the distance, making her feel cornered.
“That has nothing to do with company work.”
“If I said I’m curious personally—would you tell me?”
“……”

Bo Mi swallowed hard and stepped backward again—only to find her path blocked by the wall behind her.
“Why do you keep running away?”
Jae Kyung’s scent reminded her so much of the man she missed that her eyes grew damp and began to tremble. Why did Nak Won keep coming to mind so strongly today?
“Managing Director—why do you keep coming closer?”
You, who look exactly like Nak Won—how could you possibly understand what I feel just being near you?
“Because I don’t want to lose you.”
“What?”
“So… what was that important matter?”
“A dear person of mine……”
Bo Mi spoke as if resigned.
“Had an emergency.”
“A dear person.”
Jae Kyung felt a pang of emptiness at her reply.
“I thought you disliked Yeon Ga Jin.”
“What?”
“Or… have I been getting in the way between you two all along?”
Good heavens! Yeon Ga Jin? Bo Mi stared at Jae Kyung, startled by his words.
“Managing Director, I don’t believe I’m obligated to answer questions about my personal relationships.”
Of all people to get tangled up with—Yeon Ga Jin? Bo Mi had no intention of revealing to Jae Kyung just how deeply she loathed the siblings Ga Jin and Ga Young due to childhood trauma.
“I’d prefer to discuss only work-related matters with you, Managing Director.”
Bo Mi turned her head away, avoiding Jae Kyung’s gaze.
“If it’s not just about work—if I’m curious about your personal life too—what should I do?”
Jae Kyung tilted his body slightly, meeting Bo Mi’s averted eyes with his own. With no escape left, Bo Mi felt herself shrinking inward.
“…… Please don’t be curious.”
Don’t act as if you care about me.
Bo Mi bit her lower lip. Jae Kyung’s fingertip brushed against her lip—then pulled away.
Ah! Bo Mi’s pupils widened, and her lips parted.
‘That hurts, you know.’
“You’ll hurt yourself if you keep doing that.”
The words slipped from Jae Kyung’s lips—identical to what Nak Won used to say whenever Bo Mi bit her lip.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to make things awkward.”
His apology was drowned out by the pounding of her heart and barely reached her ears.
Being alone with Jae Kyung was clearly far too dangerous for Bo Mi.
“May I go now?”
Only after Jae Kyung stepped back did Bo Mi finally exhale a sigh of relief, as if her breath had been freed.
Her heart kept howling like the wind, swirling wildly.
Won Yi—I’m sorry. I keep seeing your face in him.
Bo Mi convinced herself that her overwhelming awareness of Jae Kyung was only because he resembled Won Yi.
“Then… would this question also be off-limits?”
“What?”
“If it’s not Managing Director Yeon Ga Jin—are you seeing anyone else?”
“Managing Director, please keep your distance. Acting as if you actually care……”
She was angry. He had no idea what she was feeling being near him. Bo Mi struggled to suppress the hot surge of emotion rising within her.
“Is that not allowed?”
“What are you even—”
“Looks like I…”
Jae Kyung moved closer and placed his hand on the doorknob. Though they weren’t touching, Bo Mi felt his warmth radiating across her entire body.
Nak Won’s shadow loomed heavily over her once again—so close, impossible to erase no matter how hard she tried.
“I seem to be very interested in CEO Han Bo Mi.”
Under Jae Kyung’s gaze, Bo Mi’s pale neck trembled faintly.

My Ex-Girlfriend Is The Regent In The Female-dominant World (Male lead transmigrates to the matriarchal world)
Two years ago, Gu Sui picked up a homeless woman in ancient costume from the street.
Apart from occasionally claiming to be a princess from a female-dominant country due to illness, her figure, appearance, intelligence, and martial arts skills were impeccable.
Naturally evolving from roommates to girlfriends, as time went on, Gu Sui found it increasingly difficult to tolerate her queen syndrome.
“Mu Jiulu, can you stop controlling me inside and out? Let’s break up.”
Gu Sui made a breakup call, and since then, he couldn’t find any trace of her.
A year later, Gu Sui, who was planning to move, woke up the next day and found himself in a different place.
“Young Master, today is the day you choose your Wife-master through martial arts competition at Jade Dew Pavilion. Please get up quickly.”
Gu Sui: Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?
As the only son of a general’s mansion in a female-dominant dynasty, the young empress personally issued a decree allowing Gu Sui to select his Wife-master through martial arts competition. Whoever could defeat him could marry him.
Gu Sui: “……”
He didn’t inherit the original owner’s martial prowess, so anyone could defeat him! And what the hell is a Wife-master?
Forced to come to Jade Dew Pavilion, the densely packed women below made Gu Sui’s agoraphobia act up, and his face was full of resistance.
Until he saw the Regent sitting on the second floor, with a smile on the corner of her lips, her eyes wicked and nonchalant.
Hmm… she looked a little familiar.
It turned out that the Regent also found him a little familiar.
Mu Jiulu fiddled with her bone clasp, her deep gaze locked on the man who was out of place in this world.
“Finally, I found you.”

Ga Jin is such an interesting character. If FL had been friends with him, she might have had an even more terrible childhood because of Mrs. Hwang. But he’s exactly the type of person who could be a friend or family member.
