In a typical romantic relationship, it was natural to want to know more about each other.
Khaled was curious about every trivial thing about Velia. However, unless necessary, Velia never inquired about his personal life.
She was somewhat annoyed by the fact that she knew so many little things about Raul, but he didn’t know much about her.
Because it reaffirmed what kind of entity she was to him.
‘She didn’t tell me why she hated Raul either.’
There must be something.
‘Could it be a prophecy or a prediction…?’
So far, the things Velia had said were unfathomable facts unless they were prophecies or predictions.
So Khaled naturally assumed that she knew everything about him as well. He believed that was why she chose him, and no one else, to be the next emperor.
But the more time he spent with her, the more he realized that Velia didn’t know much about him.
‘I came to Ronika impulsively.’
He was just planning to check on the progress of the gold mine exploration led by Raul while stopping by the Tesar Duchy, close to the Kingdom of Ronika.
But he got to know Velia, discovered a gold mine, made contact with the master of Runes, and even got engaged. He gained a lot from a moment’s choice.
All of this was unforeseen.
In terms of profit and loss, the gain was enormous.
“Velia, tell me. What should I do?”
Khaled’s voice was affectionate.
His gaze at Velia was full of love.
Warmth emanated from the hand stroking her cheek.
However.
Why should I tell you everything truthfully if you’re not being honest with me?
‘First, I need to assess the situation and respond accordingly.’
Khaled chose to keep his mouth shut.
Velia did not fully trust him. She wanted him to move according to her plan while hiding something. That wasn’t a proper relationship.
Khaled wanted to share deeper emotions with Velia. But if the relationship is unilaterally dominant as it is now, a little push and pull is necessary.
“It’s only fair. Isn’t it, my lovely Velia?”
Boring people are not fun.
Khaled knew this fact very well.
Therefore, he intends not to say anything first.
If you’re curious, want to know more about me. Try digging into me because you’re curious about what I’m hiding.
“Hmm…”
“Sleep more.”
Khaled comforted Velia, who was mumbling in her sleep.
A broad smile spread on his lips.
[This is the time separator]When Velia opened her eyes, it was already the middle of the pitchdark night.
She was nestled in Khaled’s arms.
‘When did I fall asleep…?’
Velia wasn’t surprised to see Khaled lying next to her.
Because his presence had become familiar.
“…Are you awake?”
Khaled greeted her in a deep, sleepy voice.
It seemed like he had woken up from her movements.
“I’m sorry. Did I wake you?”
“No… it’s okay.”
He closed his eyes again, saying it was okay and holding her close.
“We have a lot to talk about…”
“We can talk enough while lying down.”
Khaled, who seemed to have thought of something, chuckled to himself.
“Aren’t you used to talking in bed yet?”
Velia called his name softly at his notsofunny joke.
“…Khaled.”
“Haha. I mean we can have a conversation just like this.”
Velia shook her head softly.
Khaled, looking at her reaction, smiled as if he was having fun and suddenly hugged her tightly.
“Kyah!”
“Hahaha.”
Khaled’s laughter echoed in her ears. It was a laughter that somehow made her heart beat.
Velia glared at Khaled with a twisted expression.
“So, when do you plan to return?”
“Oh… Are you trying to send off the fiancé who just had his engagement ceremony back to the empire?”
Even though he acted disappointed, Velia was cool.
“Yes. So, let me know in advance when you’ll go.”
Khaled paused for a moment to think.
“I should be going soon. I have things to arrange with His Majesty in preparation for your arrival, so I plan to leave within next week.”
“Then I will depart for the Empire a month after you’ve left.”
Prince Khaled looked surprised at her statement.
“Why so early?”
“I have a lot of things to do in the Empire.”
“Then, depart with me.”
“No, I have a lot to do here as well.”
There were things to be verified before she could leave for the Empire, to avoid repeating the incidents from her past life. Velia planned to leave for the Empire after wrapping up these tasks.
Khaled chuckled, wrapping his arms around Velia’s waist again.
“My lovely lover, you’re too busy.”
At his teasing words, Velia’s cheeks reddened slightly.
But not wanting to show her embarrassment, she shrugged her shoulders in an exaggerated, playful manner. Khaled, finding her reaction amusing, let out a laugh and held her tightly in his arms.
“What am I to do when I already miss you?”
“We’re about to leave soon, what’s the big deal?”
“I’ll have to endure the lonely nights, then.”
With that, he planted noisy kisses on Velia’s forehead.
“What are you doing?”
Velia’s voice was tinged with laughter before she knew it.
Khaled didn’t stop, instead burying his face in her neck and capturing her lips with his.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
