After returning to the Second Prince’s palace, Valia immediately sought out Erzhe.
She had received a letter from Erzhe before, stating that she would depart soon. So, she knew that Erzhe would arrive, and the maids had already prepared a room for Erzhe to use.
Valia slowly climbed the internal stairs. Eventually, she stopped in front of the door where Erzhe would be staying and knocked twice.
“Are you inside?”
There was a bustling sound inside the room.
“Yes, yes!”
The door opened slowly, and Erzhe peeked her head out. Confirming that the visitor was Valia, Erzhe opened the door wide, awkwardly smiling as she spoke.
“Please come in, Princess.”
“Excuse me.”
Valia carefully observed the room. It seemed well-prepared by the maids. There seemed to be no discomfort for Erzhe to stay here.
“Do you like the room?”
“Oh, yes! I love it.”
“I might have missed something in a hurry. If there’s anything you need, feel free to request anytime.”
“No! It’s really, truly a room that’s beyond my expectations…”
Erzhe clasped her hands in admiration.
In reality, Erzhe, in her current state, would likely experience such a room for the first time, making it quite surprising.
Valia stopped by the window and enjoyed the scenery outside for a moment.
The view was beautiful. Even though she couldn’t see the gardens of the Second Prince’s palace from here, the distant central gardens came into view, making it a suitable room for Erzhe, who wanted to admire the palace.
“To be honest, I didn’t think you would allow my request. It was a spontaneous remark, and I was aware that it was an excessive request.”
Erzhe approached Valia and spoke.
“I appreciate your consideration for my rudeness. Thanks to you, I didn’t have to be embarrassed. Thank you so much!”
There was no malice evident in her expression.
It seemed she genuinely wanted to admire the palace and had no hidden intentions.
Valia scrutinized Erzhe’s attitude, suspecting if there might be hidden motives. At that moment, Erzhe bit her lip once and then opened her mouth as if revealing a secret.
“In fact, a clinic has been built near our farm. Many people are grateful to the princess. When Baron Chafin said he wasn’t feeling well, I thought it was an opportunity. Since it’s a good chance to meet you, who I’ve always wanted to meet, even from a distance.”
“Baroness Kynethra…”
“Call me by my name. I’m not from such a noble family to be called a baroness. I’m just a noble in name, without land, just a noble who runs a flower farm.”
Saying so, Erzhe blushed.
With her glossy, black hair and fair skin, along with her sparkling large eyes, objectively, she was a charming young lady.
“I was so happy to hear the news that the princess would supply flowers to the bazaar. So, when Baron Chafin said he wasn’t feeling well, I saw it as an opportunity. Since you can see the palace from afar, I’ve always wanted to meet you. When you come to explore the palace, just talk to the assigned maid. She will always accompany you. As there are places in the palace where you cannot go alone, it’s essential to move with a maid.”
Erzhe nodded her head.
“Recently, I’ve been quite busy, and I apologize for not checking on you even though I invited you. Instead, let’s have tea time together soon. I’ll inform you of the time and place through the maid.”
Just hearing that, Erzhe brightened up with a radiant smile.
“Wow! That sounds great!”
“Well then, do you have any more questions?”
The explanation was over.
Valia had no intention of treating Erzhe as an important guest. She had fulfilled the courtesy of inviting her to have tea a couple of times during her week-long stay in the palace.
At that moment, Erzhe cast a fleeting glance at Valia and then lowered her head. It seemed like she had something to say. Valia tilted her head with a smile and asked.
“Do you have something you want to talk to me about?”
“No, it’s not necessarily that…”
“It’s okay. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”
With Valia’s permission, Erzhe pursed her lips several times, closed her eyes, and then spoke.
“Well… uh, I wanted to express my gratitude to His Highness the First Prince… but I can’t visit him, right?”
Valia’s eyes sparkled at that question.
Seeing Erzhe’s curiosity about Raul, she felt a mixture of curiosity and discomfort.
“Well, the situation was complicated, and I couldn’t even convey greetings. It bothered me a bit.”
“I see. So, can I assume that you’re asking me to pass on the message instead?”
Erzhe, who had been rolling her eyes, smiled awkwardly as she murmured.
“Um, that’s… Princess, you seem to be very close to His Highness the First Prince…”
Whether it was a habit or not, Erzhe ended her words by twiddling her fingers.
Although Valia felt the urge to correct Erzhe’s words, she responded nonchalantly.
“They will soon become family, so I hope they are doing well.”
“Oh…”
Erzhe’s expression was subtle.
It might be a misunderstanding, or perhaps she felt awkward, but looking at the subtly expressed Erzhe, Valia quietly added a word.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
