Spring sunlight poured in through the window with its blinds raised.

On his way back to the office after an external meeting, Tae Jo felt his chest vibrate as he walked down the corridor.

He pulled his phone from the inner pocket of his suit and checked the caller ID.

“Yes, Mother.”

“—Are you still busy these days? It’s so hard to see you at all.”

As soon as he answered, Madam Ma Hye Young began her usual nagging.

It was because he had skipped their last dinner gathering. Tae Jo continued the call while acknowledging greetings from passing employees.

“I’m always busy. We don’t really have peak or off-peak seasons. Right now, I’m just coming back from an external meeting.”

“—Do you do all the work yourself? Anyway, did Ye Ryung tell you anything recently?”

“What…?”

Tae Jo, about to ask what she meant, suddenly recalled his last phone call with Ye Ryung and frowned.

She’d called out of the blue and grilled him relentlessly about whether he had a girlfriend. Wondering if this was a follow-up to that conversation, he scratched his furrowed brow.

“Are you suggesting I meet someone? I already told you last time—I’m not interested.”

When he reached his office, Secretary Kim, seated at the desk outside, stood up. Tae Jo gave a nod and stepped inside.

“—Right, I remember. But I thought maybe you’d changed your mind since then. Everyone at gatherings keeps pushing me, saying if you’re not seeing anyone, just set up a meeting once.”
