Se Kyung nodded heavily.

“But what if Mom finds out I’m pregnant and starts crying?”

Se Kyung’s pouting lips drooped downward, and her eyes grew watery as if she might burst into tears at any moment.

“No… It’s not your mom crying right now—it’s you, Se Kyung.”

“Whenever Mom comes up in conversation, everyone gets a little emotional, you know?”

As Tae Jo moved closer, Se Kyung tensed her eyes defensively, clearly fighting back tears with all her might.

“And besides… it’s just because pregnancy makes your emotions all over the place.”

“I know. So don’t hold it in—just go ahead and cry.”

Tae Jo gently brushed her reddened eyes, and instantly, like a dam breaking, her held-back tears began to fall.
