On a lethargic afternoon bathed in sun rays.
Se Kyung, who had been nodding off, opened her eyes wide at the sound of a knock on the door.
“Ms. Se Kyung, the director is calling for you.”
Looking toward the sound, she saw Director Song, half her body squeezed through the gap in the door.
“The director is calling for me?”
Se Kyung asked her, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
“Yes.”
“For what reason?”
“Well, I’m not sure about that…”
Director Song trailed off and avoided Se Kyung’s gaze.
She seemed to be in an awkward predicament for some reason.
Had something gone wrong while she was dozing off?
Se Kyung tilted her head in confusion.
“Did any problem occur while I was not aware?”
“Um, no, not that.”
Director Song shook her head to deny it. But her words and expression were out of sync, which did not inspire confidence.
Then, a voice calling for Director Song could be heard from the other end of the corridor.

Telling them she would be there soon, she gestured with her hand. She hurried Se Kyung to go to the director’s office quickly and left.
‘What’s going on?’
Se Kyung furrowed her brows, watching the retreating figure of Director Song.
She had a bad feeling.
Was it because of what she had learned that morning? Going to the director’s office now, she had a bad premonition that something big was about to happen.
“I better avoid being here today…”
Se Kyung closed the scenario she was reading and got up from her seat. Just as she was about to leave the meeting room.
Ding!
A notification sound rang out, signaling the arrival of a message.
[Come to the office. I have something to ask.] It was a message from Director Jin Tae Jo. With wideopen eyes, Se Kyung looked around like a wary meerkat. She wondered if he might be watching her from nearby, but thankfully, Tae Jo was nowhere in sight.
“But what does he want to ask…”
What exactly? What does he want to ask?

Se Kyung rolled her eyes anxiously. There was something she was suspicious about, but that was already a month ago.
“Could it be about that matter…”
Although she felt a flicker of suspicion, she promptly shook her head as if to dismiss the thought.
It wasn’t as if she had blackmailed Tae Jo about that matter, or caused a scene demanding accountability. Above all, wasn’t he unable to even remember what happened that day?
Of course, there were moments when something seemed suspicious… But anyhow, she had safely gotten past that.
Furthermore, there had been no mention of that matter since. And now, Director Jin was the one bringing up that story.
“It must be about work. Yes, it’s about work.”
Telling herself that it was nothing serious, Se Kyung headed towards Director Jin’s office.
Secretary Kim, perhaps having been informed that she would be coming, gestured for her to enter the office quickly.
“Whew.”
Standing at the door, Se Kyung took a deep breath. She hesitated for a moment, then knocked on the door.
“It’s Yoon Se Kyung.”
“Come in.”
As she opened the door, Tae Jo, who was standing by the window, turned to look at her.

With a towering height of 189cm, a wide shoulder, and a firm body fitted into a grey suit vest.
Tae Jo, who held the position of CEO of a management and content production company, had a sleek skin and clear features that made him as good looking as an actor.
Many actresses had confessed their feelings for him due to his handsome appearance.
Of course, they were all rejected outright.
“You said you have something to ask.”
Se Kyung, having closed the door behind her, opened her mouth calmly.
A filter of an unlit cigarette hung from his lips.
Tae Jo, while looking at Se Kyung standing at a distance, took out the cigarette from his mouth and snapped it in half.
And then, he threw the two halves of the cigarette filter into the trash bin and walked towards the desk.
“This.”
“……?”
Sitting on the edge of his desk, Tae Jo slid something towards Se Kyung.
“Do you know what this is?”
What’s that?

Se Kyung frowned. She couldn’t give an answer if she didn’t know what she was supposed to be looking at.
The object Tae Jo was referring to was placed on the desk, making it hard to see from where Se Kyung was standing.
“I can’t see it clearly…”
At Se Kyung’s words, Tae Jo nodded his head, seemingly indicating her to come closer and take a look.
She hesitated for a moment, then walked towards him. The closer she got to Tae Jo, the clearer the long stick pressed under his finger became visible.
“……!”
She was about to rummage through her bag.
Why was that… there?
Standing at that spot, Se Kyung looked up at Tae Jo, trying to hide her bewildered expression.
“Well, I don’t really…….”
“It’s a pregnancy test. Two lines mean it’s positive.”
Tae Jo nonchalantly answered, showing the pregnancy test. Two lines were clearly drawn in the middle of the stick.
“Is that so? I’ve never used one before.”
“…….”
“But why are you showing that to me…….”
She feigned ignorance first. Tae Jo, with an unchanging complexion, chuckled as if amused by Se Kyung’s lie.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
