“What are you trying to do?”

After finishing his meeting with Abelus, Nelusion dragged Megara, who was on her way back, into a small room in the imperial palace. Then he locked all the doors tightly and asked in a terrifying voice.

Megara hardened the pleasant expression she had shown until just now into a cold one and flared her eyes.

“What do you think you’re doing?”

“Answer me. Are you in your right mind right now? You said the club belongs to the Grand Duke? That both of us were used by the Grand Duke and sent His Highness the Crown Prince there? Do you even know what kind of consequences those words will bring?”

“How funny, Your Grace the Duke. If either of us had been in our right mind, would we have been so thoroughly beaten by Neris?”

I didn’t know you shared the same hobby as those low-class men who have no way to feel pride except by belittling women who do not love them.”

“That is not what I meant. I am saying you need to think more carefully about your own position before you act.”

A formally married couple can almost never become strangers again. The temple does not recognize divorce except for extraordinary reasons.

A mistress, however, is different. If Abelus were in a bad mood this very evening and said just one word, Megara could be driven out without any room for rebuttal.
