The children who had seen social gatherings held in their own homes many times merely pouted their lips, but those who lived relatively in the countryside and had never heard a poetry recitation wore pained expressions.

Although the academy seemed to teach everyone equally as long as tuition was paid, there were simply too many advantages in class arising from prior knowledge tied to one’s home environment.

“Of course, I’ll recite first, so you all pay close attention to the proper posture for recitation. Understood?”

“Yes,” the children replied like angels.

Sir Sheridan recited the poem with an upright posture.

The brief pauses between lines were perfectly rhythmic, and his expressive emphasis on key poetic words was superb.

Children who had witnessed poetry recitals attended by professional poets or banquets that invited minstrels suspected that despite his claim—“Let’s leave interpretation of poetic diction to the literature teacher”—he was actually exceptional in literary sensibility as well.

After finishing the recitation of a poem depicting an autumn riverside scene, Sir Sheridan handed out sheets of paper bearing the verses to the children. Though worn in places—likely from annual use in this class—the paper itself was of excellent quality.

“Dali, you know poetry well, don’t you? I have no artistic talent myself, so I envy people who can do this sort of thing.”

At Megara’s gentle praise, Aidalia shyly averted her gaze and murmured a quiet thank-you.

“How can anyone read something this long without tripping over their tongue?”

Nicholas quickly lost interest in the paper and began teasing the boy at his table. After allowing the children a moment to absorb the poem, Sir Sheridan asked,

“Is there anyone who can recite it from memory?”

After all, the classical poets did not compose their works by writing them down on paper for reading—they created orally, as literature in their era was passed from mouth to mouth by minstrels. Thus, memorization was fundamental for academy students studying literature.

The class fell silent. No one could possibly memorize a fourteen-line poem so quickly. Megara remained calm, knowing Sir Sheridan did not expect perfect recitation, but most children frantically darted their eyes in panic.

The Male lead Always Seduces Her with His Beauty (Matriarchy)

Xin Jiao Zhou is the leader of the world’s premier sect. She has just experienced betrayal from all sides, was poisoned in an assassination attempt, and faced death squad attacks while the poison was taking effect. After finally clearing out the scum from her sect, she was drugged again while trying to detoxify.

After waking up from a night of unconsciousness, she gained a “beautiful and kind-hearted” husband.

Xin Jiao Zhou: “???”

He fell ill.

She came to see him, bringing breakfast.

As she put down the breakfast and was about to leave, his hand slipped while holding the spoon. “Clank!”

She turned around upon hearing the noise.

He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”

“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.

He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”

Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.

After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.

Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.

A certain someone when disciplining subordinates behind the scenes: “If they don’t obey, just kill them.”

What’s that? She might already have someone she cares about in her heart? A certain someone: Find out who it is, kill them, and then there won’t be anyone.

What? She met a man by the riverside? What? That man even hurt her? A certain someone: Whichever hand hurt her, chop off his entire arm.

  1. Ciel // Chapter 187

The male lead being so proud of his wife is honestly adorable, even when he gets jealous.
And the female lead is so elegant and beautiful—I can’t wait to see this scene illustrated

  2. Ciel // Chapter 189

Haha, did the ML really just say that to the FL? He’s so cute when he gets a little jealous.
    Can’t wait for next chapter

  3. Ciel // Chapter 190

The ML is so considerate of his wife. He treats her with so much care and gentleness, even when she doesn’t say a word—he just understands her. He’s honestly so perfect, I can’t 😭

I really hope the FL can overcome these painful feelings soon. I can’t bear to watch her suffer this much. 💔
