“Nanny.”

In just half a day, the nanny, having been harshly interrogated, lay on the prison floor groaning in pain.

“You! What are you doing here!”

“Where else would I be? This is the dungeon, and you are imprisoned here. Clearly guilty.”

Seeing my face, the nanny screamed.

“You gave them to me! I didn’t want them, but you insisted I take them!”

“Yes, I gave them to you.”

I admitted it cheerfully.

Rustle. I pulled out Annette’s diary from my pocket. Poor Annette. You always wrote your true feelings here because you had no one to talk to. Thanks to that, I knew exactly what happened to Annette.

“You wicked thing! How could I have raised you!”

“‘Today it rained. Rosalyn was scolded heavily and sent home. Nanny said Rosalyn stole something. But I know.’”

The nanny’s face twisted at the unexpected reading from the diary.

“Rosalyn?”

“‘Rosalyn didn’t steal anything. It was surely someone else. Rosalyn worried about me as she was chased away. She said she could find another job, but I had to stay in this house.’”

Rosalyn was a young maid who had recently joined the Porshe household.

She was only a year or two older than Annette and cared for her like a younger sister. To the Porshe household servants, who united in tormenting Annette, Rosalyn must have been an eyesore.

“Don’t you remember? You grabbed Rosalyn’s wrist and accused her of stealing the family’s valuables like a rat.”

“I don’t remember! That thief deserved it!”

“You’ve committed so many crimes you can’t even remember them all.”

I clicked my tongue in disapproval.
People who think they are the only ones capable of setting traps eventually fall into their own schemes.

The Duke had wanted the nanny to accompany Annette to the North when she got married. His beautiful concern for his distant daughter was, of course, not genuine; he wanted someone to accompany her and gather information from the North.

I did not want the nanny to come with me.

〈I got the impression that father wanted you to go to the North with me. What do you think, Nanny?〉

The nanny, not very thrilled, said she would agree if I paid her more.

〈There’s no need for that. How would someone who has lived their whole life in the South survive in the North? Besides, you’re not in good health.〉

So, I took out the blue sapphire necklace from my jewelry box, the one the nanny couldn’t take her eyes off, and handed it to her.

〈You’ve raised me all my life. This is my way of saying thank you.〉

Then I gave her some money and instructed her to tell the Duke she wanted to leave the mansion due to poor health. With this money and the sapphire necklace, she could live a comfortable life.

“Guard! Miss Annette told the truth! Is anyone there? Miss Annette admitted to lying!”

“Nanny, really, who do you think will come here?”

I chuckled and reached through the bars of the prison cell, lifting the nanny’s head, which had become disheveled in just half a day.

“No one here will listen to you.”

Just as no one cared about Annette’s plight when she shivered in her dilapidated room.

Life eventually comes full circle.

“If you had even the slightest conscience, you wouldn’t be here now. Did you really think you deserved such a precious item?”

My laughter echoed in the prison. If she had understood her place, she wouldn’t have accepted it. If she had known what she had done to Annette, fear alone would have stopped her from accepting that necklace.

The nanny’s imprisonment was her own doing.

“Someone, anyone! Please, come and listen to what Miss Annette is saying!”

The nanny’s desperate voice resonated through the prison, but it was futile.

If Annette were here, I’d want to tell her.

‘You’re not here, but I have avenged you.’

Male lead reborn without memories — but he still falls for her.

The person he finds displeasing in this life turns out to be his cherished wife-master in previous life…

Xie Zhi and Fang Xianxing who had known each other for less than three days through a blind date sat in the same car in front of the civil affairs bureau. They had a disagreement and failed to get married.

Xie Zhi immediately took out his phone, slid through his contacts, and randomly selected the next marriage candidate.

The woman snatched his phone and hung up. Looking at his phone wallpaper, she awkwardly changed the subject: “An ancient painting, eh? It looks pretty good, it’s just that the person in the painting looks a bit like me.”

When he heard this, he sarcastically mocked her for being so delusional, completely unaware that, the person in front of him was the reincarnation of Wen Ru, the famous prime minister of Yuan Shun whom he most admired…

The female CEO who doesn’t want to get married with a divorce agreement in hand × The male archaeological researcher who will only get married if he’s sure he can get divorced
