Simmons felt at ease for the first time in a while. As long as the soldiers Inkheart had brought were guarding the mansion, those damn loan sharks wouldn’t dare bother him anymore.

‘If they show up one more time, I’ll sock them right in the jaw and burn their debt papers to ashes. Who do they think they are, trying to squeeze money out of a noble?’

His mother had nearly fainted upon hearing that Kaitlyn’s name had been struck from the family register, but she calmed down somewhat after Anette promised to find a solution once she returned.

‘Once funds start flowing again, I’ll need to establish my own army.’

Knowing that Inkheart’s troops were stationed nearby gave Simmons peace of mind, especially since he’d become aware of growing unrest within his territory lately.

‘Seriously, if this is supposedly a holy relic tied to some treasure, shouldn’t it at least say something like, “Turn left 500 meters ahead. Make a U-turn once more, and there you’ll find the Holy Grail”?’
