“I need to know what’s going on right away. It just feels ominous.”

Kite nodded at Ruela’s words and seated his son beside her, giving him instructions.

“Stay right here and protect Mom and your little sister. Understand?”

At his father’s request, Cheat nodded with a frightened expression.

Not long after Kite kissed Ruela and the children on their foreheads and stepped outside, Shuna and the nursemaid entered the carriage.

“What’s happened?”

To her question, Shuna whispered in a soft voice.

“Something strange appeared ahead. According to Duke Erme, it looks like a monster.”

“A monster?”

“Yes. It’s not certain though—he’s only guessing.”

Shuna spoke as if to reassure her, but Ruela couldn’t shake the thought that it might truly be a monster.

After all, for the past few days, strange changes had been appearing on the map inside her screen.

Ruela handed Clothilde to the nursemaid, opened her screen, and unfolded the map.

The mysterious land they were currently traveling through was located at the northernmost edge of the Helane Kingdom.

Like the area blocked off by western mountain ranges, this place had previously shown nothing on the map—but now it was different.
