“How can we sneak out?”

Luella pondered, rubbing her chin.

Hazan casually remarked, as if to alleviate her concern.

“Just disguise yourself.”

Luella opened her screen and skimmed through the quest list. She picked out a few that offered a lot of experience points and agreed with Hazan.

“After all, there’s no other way, right? Then let’s wait for Kite and go on a monster hunt before doing the hunting quest.”

“Let’s go today.”

Not only Luella but also Hazan and Rafael looked surprised at Michel’s opinion. And for good reason—the risk was too great to go immediately, although they were in a hurry themselves.

“Today, Balder will be keeping a close eye on the surroundings of the mansion.”

Luella looked out of the reception room window, which was completely covered by curtains.

Until today, the curtains here had been merely decorative. But now, all the windows had curtains drawn, perhaps out of concern someone might look inside.

“Now that they’ve confirmed you’re not inside, they’ll think you’re out. So they’ll only be alert for people coming into the mansion. You can just return by teleportation when you come back.”

“What about the work? You said you were busy. I heard it from Cozette. It’s an issue that affects the lives of the people of Leor.”

“You can do it after you come back. It’s better than worrying about Balder invading today.”

Feeling guilty, she found it hard to readily agree. So, as she fiddled with her fingers, Hazan gestured for her to get up.

“People who are leaving probably won’t get noticed, so maybe a disguise isn’t necessary?”

“You’ll have to disguise yourself to avoid being followed. Luella, you can reach level 20 in a day, right? So two days should be sufficient.”

Luella nodded, calculating the experience points from the quests.

“Why are you saying it’ll take two days when you asked if one day would suffice?”

“Because it’ll take time to go to Oruel. Even riding a carriage through Camun Village takes a whole day. Of course, we’ll be using the teleport skill on the way back, so that time is excluded.”

Luella turned on the map to check the path to the Kingdom of Oruel. Indeed, a road to Oruel was open below Camun Village.

“It would be perfect if we could take Shuna with us…”

Upon hearing Luella’s mutterings, Hazan spoke as if he’d just remembered.

“Ah, I looked into that maid you mentioned. She was an orphan, promoted from a cleaning maid to serve you briefly, before being demoted back to her original position.”

“A cleaning maid, you say?”

“Yes, so she was probably deemed unfit to be a ladies’ maid.”

“She was good at styling hair though… Anyway, we need to stop by the Camun Mansion on the way. She was demoted back to her original position after I was expelled, so it doesn’t seem like she’s in cahoots with Balder.”

Rafael nodded.

“That’s right. As long as you’re careful when leaving, you should be fine. If no one’s tailing you, it’s okay for Luella to be seen here and there. It’s a good way to divert Balder’s attention from the mansion.”

Although it was brief, Shuna had genuinely cared for Luella. Even without any memories, she felt different from the other servants. Luella had a sense that she could trust her.

The question was whether Shuna would leave the Camun Mansion to follow Luella. Even if she was just a cleaning maid, she was working in a powerful household that was related to King Curan. Would she choose to serve her, who had been declared an enemy?

There was no point in worrying about it here. Luella stood up.

“Then I’ll go and get disguised now. But is Tian’s work done yet?”

Hazan also stood up to respond.
“It’s almost over. I told you we don’t have much time left. Go back to your room for now. The clothes and wig I used for disguise earlier are in Tien’s room. I’ll bring them down.”

“We’ll soon learn about that housing system, but shouldn’t we move Luella’s bedroom regardless?”

Lapellian slightly pulled back the curtain and looked outside as he spoke.

“Why my room?”

“Balder knows the location of your room. He’s a risk for abduction, so I thought we should move it.”

“We don’t have to move until we learn the defense system.”

“But even if we do learn it, your skill level will be 1. That makes me a little anxious.”

“As long as they don’t have magical abilities, they can’t break the barrier.”

At Luella’s words, the expressions of the three worsened.

“Why is that?”

“When Balder came earlier,”

Hazen opened his mouth.

“Yes.”

“I smelled a strange odor.”

“Really? I’ve never met him up close, so I didn’t know. Does he not bathe?”

The question seemed so out of place that the three burst into laughter.

“No, it’s a smell only those like us, with abilities, can recognize.”

At Michel’s explanation, Luella’s eyes widened.

“What kind of smell?”

“Do you know the smell that comes from monsters?”

At Lapellian’s question, Luella’s face grimaced. She couldn’t help but recall the foul stench that emanated when hunting monsters.

“Uh, that rotten, decaying smell?”
