“I don’t see them either.”

“It’s strange. Why don’t we see them?”

Luella ran up to Kite, who was standing up.

“Did you see the herbs when I was digging them up in the monster zone the other day?”

“Yeah, I saw them.”

Not knowing the reason, Luella tilted her head at Kite’s nodding response.

“But why can’t we see them now?”

If you look closely, even Luella can’t tell if it’s a weed or an herb. However, they were densely marked as herbs everywhere on the map.

“Think about what’s different from the other day.”

On Raphael’s advice, Luella pondered. At that moment, Hazen exclaimed.

“Could it be the party?”

Luella turned to look at him.

“The party?”

Hazen grimaced as he spoke.

“You refused to make a party when we set out, saying you didn’t know the preciousness of the party window.”

“Your point is valid. We were hunting monsters the other day, so we must’ve partied, right?”

Kite, who had been quiet until then, added his reasoning.

“Maybe these herbs are implemented here by the game system.”

“That seems correct.”

Even the silent Mitchel pitched in. Feeling hopeful, Luella invited everyone to a party. Only then did Tien excitedly shout.

“I can see them!”

“Me too.”

“There are herbs here too.”

Hearing her companions’ exclamations, Luella felt deflated. All these precious herbs were only visible to her. She couldn’t delegate the task to anyone without forming a party.

She couldn’t share this valuable game screen with just anyone, and the noble gentlemen weren’t going to pick herbs for her.

Luella spoke to Kite as she watched her dream of becoming a wealthy countess fly away.

“If all this succeeds, we must keep our promise to give me the Count title of Curan.”

“You look quite off course from your plans.”

“I wanted to be a wealthy countess, but it looks like I’ll just be a countess. Still, it’s fortunate that Curan did so many malicious things, so they can’t be poor.”

“The property of the rebels will be confiscated.”

“What? So even if I become a countess, I’ll have to manage that huge castle with the money I have?”

“And the territory.”

“But I don’t have money, do I?”

“Didn’t you say you had some then?”

“That money, like these herbs, is useless in reality.”

At Luella’s downcast response, Kite spoke with a tone tinged with amusement.

“The ability users of Hellane receive a pension every year.”

“Ah! How much do they give?”
The estate barely manages to sustain itself. Of course, if not managed properly, debt could pile up.”

“Do those people get it too?”

A gloomy Luella pointed at her colleagues who were cheerfully digging up herbs they couldn’t even sell.

“Of course, they get it, but those people are so rich that they don’t care about pensions. If you have such abilities, it means that royal blood is quite strongly mixed in.”

“Indeed, it’s hard to believe just by looking at them, but they’re all heirs to count, duke, and earl families, aren’t they?”

Even young Richard was an heir to a duke.

“Yes. They all come from venerable families and have more wealth than they can handle. They also contribute a lot to the Ability Management System.”

“So, we could potentially borrow money or leech off them if needed?”

“Why are you only thinking in that direction? Are you afraid I’m going to starve you?”

Startled by Kite’s sudden words, Luella took a step back.

“Huh? That line is dangerous.”

“What are you talking about?”

“It sounds like you’re committing to taking care of me for life.”

Although she was leeching off him now, she had no intention of being a burden forever. Once her level increased, even as a healer, she would gain enough power to manage on her own.

However, Kite casually dismissed such unnecessary worries.

“I should be responsible for a lifetime. You’ve worked so hard for our Hella. Every ability user is a valuable resource.”

Watching Kite speak earnestly, Luella somehow felt deflated.

‘So foolish…’

She had a moment where her heart fluttered, but it was a moment that made her feel pathetic.

After all, Kite was with her because she was a healer. She was the one swayed by the occasional, unconscious tenderness.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
