After having lunch and taking a short break to regroup, Ruella went downstairs when it was time to gather as agreed.

“The letters I mentioned earlier.”

Lady Line, who was waiting in the hall, handed Ruella well-sealed letters, about six in total.

Ruella checked the names written on the outer envelopes and then looked at Lady Line.

“Do I only need to deliver these to these people?”

“Yes. They were the ones who stood at the forefront to overthrow the king. Others who received letters will deliver them to other nobles.”

“Understood. Then, take a rest.”

After Ruella’s farewell, Lady Line cautiously asked,

“Are you really okay?”

No matter how capable someone was, it was impossible to have two lives. However, she couldn’t comprehend why they were determined to go to such a dangerous place.

Ruella put the letters in her cloak pocket and replied,

“Fighting monsters with your life as collateral is never okay.”

“Then there’s no need to go out of your way.”

Lady Line tilted her head, seemingly unable to understand.

Ruella looked at her colleagues waiting in front of the entrance.

“We also thought about it. Whether we should just focus on capturing Duke Kuran or if it’s necessary to volunteer for such a dangerous task.”

She sincerely sighed and turned to Lady Line.

“But you know, it doesn’t put my mind at ease. When you think about people being attacked by monsters for no reason, even though it’s most important to defeat Duke Kuran, that’s why we’re stepping forward.”

Lady Line looked at Ruella with admiring eyes.

She had thought they were extraordinary because of the previous incidents, but now she was just amazed.

“Being a capable person isn’t something anyone can be.”

Lady Line spoke honestly to Ruella, who looked at her as if asking what she meant.

“If I had the ability, I probably would have focused on escaping from this country. Taking care of my wealth first. Maybe it’s because of these differences that you’ve received God’s choice.”

A strange emotion welled up in Ruella’s chest at Lady Line’s words.

Occasionally, she felt angry about why she had to suffer like this in a game world.

It was tough and painful to have to risk her life and fight against monsters every time, despite meeting loved ones and good colleagues.

But now, hearing that it seemed she had received God’s choice because of these differences, the unfair, sad, and angry feelings disappeared as if melting away.

She had occasional doubts about her existence or the existence of monsters, the connection with the original world, and the incomprehensible abilities. All of this was suddenly explained so simply.

As her thoughts reached that point, Ruella, feeling much lighter, expressed her gratitude to Lady Line.
“I’ve always pondered about my existence, but with the lady’s words, my complicated feelings have been sorted out. Thank you. I want to believe that, as the lady said, we are the chosen ones of God, so nothing bad will happen. So please pray. Pray that we can end all of this without any deserters and return safely.”

With those words, Ruella walked toward her waiting colleagues.

Lady Line, watching her back, began to pray to God for the first time in more than a decade.

“It’s more gruesome than I thought.”

Teleported to the bustling district, they sighed as they looked outside from the van.

On the streets, the corpses of people attacked by monsters were scattered everywhere.

The only fortunate thing was that the horde of monsters that attacked this place was slow, crawling on the ground, so their speed wasn’t too fast.

However, this was only fortunate to a certain extent. Due to the monsters invading houses and shops, people inside were forced to hide, and there were still a considerable number of people who couldn’t escape and were being attacked.

Screams continued endlessly, and those who had nowhere to run even jumped from the second and third floors.

As soon as Kite gave his permission, everyone began preparing for battle.

Once ready, they split into two teams and began slaughtering the monsters.

The team in charge of the streets collected the monsters by having Hazen’s familiar roam around, and Rafael dealt with them using area-of-effect magic. Tien killed one or two scattered ones.

The team inside the buildings, with Kite and Mitchell killing monsters, Ruella took care of the surviving ones.
