“Why not?”
“A healer’s healing skills generate more aggro than any attack from tanks or damage dealers. So, during a raid, you have to be careful not to pour too many heals at once.”
“So that’s why you didn’t fully fill up Kite’s HP. Why didn’t you?”
Now accustomed to game terms like aggro and HP due to being with Ruella, the party was using them naturally. Tien looked around and asked, “But what surrounds us?”
“It’s called a defense shield, a skill that briefly protects us from the monster’s attacks. It requires careful use as it consumes tremendous mana.”
While focusing on the attacks again, Mitchell shouted, “Found the weak point. When it lifts its foot to stomp, attack the sole of its foot. Even a single attack will drain the monster’s HP continuously.”
“Oh, I see. The sole of the foot is the weak point.”
After that, it was easy. Pouring all their special skills every time the monster lifted its foot, it didn’t take long for it to collapse.
“We should call Mitchell a specialist in finding weak points. He does it well.”
They decided to take a short break to recover their mana and stamina and to treat their wounds.
“Kite, are you okay? There’s blood everywhere.”
“I took a pain reduction potion, so the pain is definitely less. But, maybe because of its size, my head rings and my mind feels a bit numb every time I get hit. The speed feels sluggish.”
Kite, who usually didn’t talk much about his condition, seemed to be struggling this time. He raised his hand as if excusing himself and then lay down on the spot.
“Can we continue like this?”
It was clearly different from the situation on the strategy board. While everyone chatted about it being an easy boss, they were experiencing unknown pain.
Unfortunately, the potions made by Ruella couldn’t alleviate such pain.
Ruella continuously poured her inexperienced disease treatment skills and potions onto Kite, hoping for his condition to improve. Seeing him in such a weakened state was unexpectedly painful for her, and she felt hesitant about continuing like this.
“Should we go back?”
“No, I’m getting better. I’d rather bleed and tear. This feels like the pain of a hangover that I only heard about.”
“A hangover?”
She quickly opened the bulletin board to check posts from users, especially those from tanks.
That gatekeeper seems to be an alcoholic. Every time he hits me, I get a hangover debuff. The screen shakes a bit, and my vision blurs a little, but it clears up in a while, so it’s okay.
Then, she checked Kite’s status window. The hangover debuff wasn’t visible anywhere.
Unlike in the game where hangovers were recognized as magic, it seemed that hangovers weren’t perceived as such for humans.
Ruella, just in case, decided to use the detoxification skill. Kite’s pained expression relaxed, and he quickly stood up.
“How did you do that?”
“According to other people’s strategies, it seems this giant inflicts hangover attacks. My screen didn’t recognize it as a debuff, so I didn’t know. Fortunately, it cleared up after using the detoxification skill.”
Kite chuckled as if amazed, “A hangover, there’s really everything.”
“Are you really okay now?”
In response to Hazen’s concerned question, Kite shook his head.
“Unbelievably, it’s like nothing happened. I was startled by the pain I experienced for the first time in my life.”
“True. Since I’ve never been drunk, there’s no way I’ve experienced the pain of a hangover.”
“Now that the treatment is over, and it seems like our condition has returned, let’s check the rewards and go hunt the next monster.”
“Right, rewards.”
Everyone gestured through the air, flicking their fingers while examining their bags.
“Wrist guards. We can’t use these. They’re unnecessary. Healing ointment. Is this like a potion?”
In response to Hazen’s question, Ruella also checked her bag and answered, “Yes, please keep it well.”
“Did they also give a piece of a letter this time? It’s the same kind we got after killing the vineyard lion, but it doesn’t seem to continue.”
In response to Tien’s words, they opened the map again.
In the complicated bag, a letter piece that they hadn’t noticed before was confirmed.
“The vineyard piece says, ‘Because of receiving excessive magic, I turned into a monster,’ and the piece we just got says, ‘It was necessary to hide thoroughly.’ It seems to be a hint about another named with a key.”
Judging from this situation, it seemed that among the named with keys, some were announced in the notice, and some were not. They needed to collect these letter pieces to complete the letter and encounter the named.
“It seems we need to hunt monsters until this letter is complete.”
Raphael placed the letter pieces side by side from the bag and said, “We need to obtain seven or eight keys there.”
“Yet people from other worlds have already captured someone called ‘Vincent,’ right? We need to hurry as well.”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
