Everything had changed during the morning meeting.
A routine gathering, where tension was usually nonexistent, had turned into a repetition of daily meetings.
“Let’s see. So… who should do this?”
“…..”
“It’d be nice if someone from below could do it, seeing how much work there is.”
The department head who, like a wage thief, loved to pass his work onto others.
“How about Team 1? Our Team 2 has to follow up with the main office’s plans…”
Kim Jae Hee, the manager, subtly attacked the others with his cunning voice.
“Ah, Manager Kim, you’re right. Let’s see, from Team 1…”
It was nothing more than the usual view of a conference room.
With one exception.
“Right! Our handsome and tall newcomer can do it.”
The department head. No, not there….
Really, not there.
Shin Yeon, who had been glancing around, finally decided to voice her thoughts.
“Excuse me, Department Head. The newcomer already has a lot on their plate, and Team 2 can certainly…”
“No, Manager Shin. Our newcomer does their work well, so they’re getting more. What’s the problem?”
Trust me. It’s a problem….

It’s a sad affair.
“Of course, it’s true our newcomer has a reputation for doing a good job, but they have the workload of a deputy. And…”
“In my time, it was standard for newcomers to work late, and when given work, we just said thank you.”
“Well, that’s the thing…”
“Working late was the measure of recognition, get it!”
Department Head.
I really don’t like you.
No. Maybe I dislike you more than I thought.
But, Department Head. You have a high school student, right?
You have to stay a little longer to enjoy the university tuition benefits.
Don’t do this. This is really not it….
“Newcomer. What do you think?”
At the end of the conference room.
The quiet newcomer gave a friendly smile at the department head’s words.
“I appreciate the recognition, so I’m just grateful.”
Ah, I don’t know anymore.

At the newcomer’s words, Shin Yeon hung her head, and the department head seemed to open his shoulders even more.
“Right? Hey, newcomer. If you need extra work hours, just submit the documents anytime! It’s good to earn more money!”
“I’ll do my best.”
Will you really do your best?
As she watched the newcomer silently accept the document passed by the department head, Shin Yeon bit her lower lip anxiously.
But what about Shin Yeon.
Why am I worrying about the newcomer’s excessive workload?
Ha, this is crazy.
“Then, let’s end today’s meeting here. Dismiss!”
“Good work everyone!”
The salary thief who had confidently offloaded the remaining work onto the lowerlevel employees stood up with a refreshing expression.
The employees began to scatter one by one, packing up their own belongings.
“Manager, aren’t you leaving?”
Shin Yeon, who had been stalling while being watchful of others, waited for everyone to leave.

As Shin Yeon hesitated, a deputy approached her with a curious look.
“Ah, Deputy Min. I have to go ahead. I’ll be out soon.”
“Yes, Manager!”
The deputy, who was about to leave with her, bowed his head slightly at Shin Yeon’s words and left the conference room.
Shin Yeon was looking around like a meerkat, being conscious of her surroundings.
As the room emptied, leaving only a new recruit who was starting to clean up and herself, Shin Yeon moved a little closer to him.
“Manager. Is there anything you want to say….”
He looked at Shin Yeon with a harmless expression unique to new hires and asked.
The woman approaching him as if she had something special to say had a curious look in her eyes.
“Excuse me, newbie.”
“Yes?”
“You have plenty of work right now. These days, even new employees can refuse that much.”
“I see.”
“Ah, if you finish your tasks too quickly, the director will surely give you more work. So, go a little slower…..”
Ah? No. That’s not it.
Pull yourself together, Shin Yeon. What nonsense are you talking about?
What am I doing to someone who might even become the company’s representative?
Wow, I must be crazy.

Shin Yeon was surprised by her own unfiltered words and wore a surprised expression.
“No, I didn’t mean that! I’m just worried because you’re taking on too much work right now.”
Damn. It should have been natural.
Shin Yeon looked anxious due to her unease.
And then.
Our handsome new recruit flashed a bright, goodnatured smile.
“Is that so?”
But somehow….
It seemed a bit mischievous…. something seemed a bit off….
“Then, Manager Shin will help.”
“Excuse me?”
“It would be easier, right?”
“Ah? Of course, I have to help….”
Before Shin Yeon could express her surprise, documents were passed onto her hand.
The document that the director had personally handed over to the new hire just a moment ago.
No… No, this must be a dream.

Why am I receiving the documents handed over by the newbie?
“Thank you, Manager Shin. The company will surely recognize it later. Your broadmindedness and passion for the job, caring even for the excessive workload of your subordinate.”
No, this is not it.
This is not it… I’m telling you this is not it!
“Will you, work hard?”
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
