“It’s broken. The plate……! What now, Nia will be driven out…! Huwaaaaaa……!”
The child started to babble, tears flowing.
“…….”
Watching this, His momentarily thought that if he could drive her out as she said, it would be fine to do so.
But as Lucia wouldn’t drive the child out just for breaking a plate, he had no choice but to abandon that thought.
Just then.
The holy power bursting from the child’s body as she cried uncontrollably.
Seeing that shining holy power, His’s eyes changed.
A strong and immense holy power that doesn’t match her age, black hair; these were the conditions of the saint that everyone on the continent, not just in the temple, was eagerly looking for.
If someone had noticed this, they might have prostrated themselves at the feet of the saint with a gaze of reverence.
But His was different.
Coldly hardened His was filled with the thought that if he left her in front of the temple as she was, he could get rid of this child from Lucia’s side.
.
.
.
The child would be gone.
It meant that like before, he could wander around the empire and have a joyful life with Lucia.
Having made up his mind, His raised his hand without a hint of hesitation.
It was to open a portal to send the child to the front of the temple.
But at that moment, the holy power floating around the child’s body began to ripple uneasily.
Reflecting the crying child’s anxiety, the movement changed every second.
Soon, the movement seemed as if it would start running wild, confusing His’s eyes.
If it had been mana, its aggression would have wreaked havoc around, but the harmless holy power had no effect on its surroundings.
But seeing the uneasy movement right in front of his eyes, it reminded him only of his past.
His was the son of a worthless swindler.
His father traveled from village to village selling medicine, and when that became wellknown, they hid in a village in deep mountains.
But a monster appeared in that small village, and seeing his chance, the father exploited his son, the wizard, for protection and took the money.
Young His was also scared just to see the monster, but despite that, he was happy.
The reason was that he had made friends in the first village where they settled.
But that joy was brief, as a monster too much for the young wizard appeared, and young His was seriously injured.
Yet the people shoved the wounded His at the fearsome monster, and that included his family, his father, and his friends.
The cruelty to a 10yearold child broke his mind and made his magic power run wild.
Just like the unsettling movement of the holy power before his eyes now.
Would this child do the same?
The screams of that time and the monsters’ howls.
Heis, who remembered the flicker of that magic, was not unfamiliar with Nia’s rampant power.
Heis calmly calmed down the violently fluctuating divine power with his magic.
Then, the child stopped crying and looked at the boy as her body suddenly stabilized.
Heis let out a small sigh, thinking that this stern face would resemble his own face after Lucia had eliminated the rampage.
“……Do you want to be here?”
Heis asked Nia.
Nia, drenched with tears and snot, sobbed again and answered Heis’s words after a while.
“……Yes…….”
A small but definite answer.
He watched for a bit, and attached the plate with magic.
“……Wwoah!”
The child carefully placed the plate she received on the table, startled for a moment. She vowed never to touch it carelessly again.
“It’s noticeable if you do this. It’s better to live ordinarily. You too.”
You too.
That probably referred to himself.
The reason Heis, who has as tremendous magic power as Nia’s tremendous divine power, hides most of his abilities and chooses alchemy instead of being in the mage corps.
It was because he wanted to be by Lucia’s side, but more precisely, because he couldn’t trust the greed of anyone other than her.
Heis thought that this child Lucia had brought was no different.
“Ordinary……? What’s that?”
Nia asked about the word that most caught her ear in Heis’s words.
“I don’t know.”
“……”
Nia, looking dejected.
Watching her, Heis thought again about the word “ordinary” that he had carelessly uttered.
Then, he recalled a friend from the first village he had befriended.
Despite being pushed away, he was the first person to come to mind if he was called ordinary.
Heis fondled the memories with that friend.
“……Laughed well. Ate well. Had many friends.”
That his memory could become a complete remembrance was probably thanks to the present Lucia and the knight corps comrades.
“Friends……?”
While Nia was chewing on his muttering, someone opened the door to the lodging.
Sure enough, there was Gilliana, who said she would be back soon.
But she was not alone.
A small child in Gilliana’s arms.
The redhaired child who came down from her arms blinked her big eyes and boldly scanned the inside as if it was her territory.
“Hmm. Here, it looks usable.”
[Star Icon]In front of the imperial central library, groups of nobles dressed for an outing were murmuring.
“Look there. Unbelievable.”
“Right, she asked for parenting books!”
“My goodness……. She really must have a child……!”
When Lucia looked back at their murmurs, they all pretended not to know and scattered, sweating.
She was on her way out of the library, having borrowed parenting books since she had come to the palace.
‘It’s been a while. These kinds of looks.’
Lucia, who had been living in the mountains until a few days ago, was reminded of her youth by experiencing those who avoided her and looked around.
Eyes full of fear, yet gazes that couldn’t be torn away from interest, and even busy small lips passing on words.
It was more of a strange sensation than disappointment at the same appearance as her young days before regression.
Then, she discovered people gathering a little further away from her.
Lucia guessed who might be among them.
Light and darkness.
Someone in a world of light much different from her own would be among those people.
And, as she expected, the man who emerged from among them and walked quickly towards her.
He, who seemed to be wrapped in light all over his body without a single speck of dust,
“Lucia, it seems you’ve come to borrow a book.”
“Ah, a parenting book……I see.”
There was a drawing of a child on the cover, and it looked like a parenting book, so it seemed that he finally realized that she had a child.
Without saying a word, as he stood looking at her, Lucia picked up the book again, and at the moment she was about to go on her way.
Suddenly, he shouted in apparent surprise.
“……Ah! That, there! That book……!”
As Lucia turned around, she saw his face turning red, fixed on the back cover of the book.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
