“Isn’t it adorable? Rabbits are divided into domestic and wild types and are very loving animals. So, before you all graduate, these 12 pens will definitely be full.”
Emily pointed to the pens lined up in the backyard.
It was one of the newly introduced lessons to teach the children about the responsibility of life.
“Woah, baby bunnies breed like that?”
“Yes, Roy. So, you’ll take turns taking good care of them until you graduate. Everyone got it?”
“Yeeeee!”
In reality, as nobles, the children would eventually learn the meaning of life through hunting.
However, Principal Norzia had a different teaching approach.
She believed that witnessing the birth process of life was more crucial than experiencing the shock of death.
“So, today, we’ll be feeding these dried carrots to the adult rabbits. But you have to eat as much as you feed them at lunch. How about that? You can’t escape eating more if you feed more.”
Thus, a second opportunity to eat more vegetables was created.
Taking advantage of the rabbitrelated lesson, it was a killingtwobirdswithonestone kind of class.
However,
“Ugh, yucky! Roy won’t eat that.”
“Oh, Roy. Is it because you’re older now? Even such a small rabbit eats it.”
“Teacher Emily, do I really have to eat? Roy wants to feed the rabbit a lot. Whaa…”
Just then, Evan stepped closer to the crying Roy.
“Your name is Roy, right? Want to know a trick? Block your nose while eating; you won’t taste it.”
“Huh? Like this?”
Following the kind words of a peer, Roy pinched his nose, mimicking Evan.
“Oh, Evan, you’re smart. How did you know that?”
“Ah, …I have a younger sister who hates vegetables.”
Evan awkwardly responded to Emily’s compliment.
“Really? That’s impressive. Everyone, let’s take after Evan; next time, eat your vegetables without blocking your noses. Got it?”
“Yeeeee!”
Following Emily’s words, the children began to humorously mimic the action of blocking their noses.
And so, Emily distributed the dried carrots.
“Young ones can’t eat carrots yet, so only give them to the adult rabbits on the left. Got it?”
As Emily gave out these instructions, one by one, the lesson with the animals concluded warmly.
The children followed Emily back to the classroom, and Evan, who was first on duty, began.
Pouring food into the justemptied feed box, Evan gazed at the rabbits for a long moment.
And muttered absentmindedly,
“It would be better if useless things died quickly.”
[Dash]Thump. At that small sound, Evan slowly turned his head.
A blackhaired child who had dropped a piece of dried carrot.
Seemed like he had run over amidst the chaos of the children to give the missed carrot piece.
As their eyes met, Evan passed by with a seemingly innocuous smile.
[Star Icon]“Captain! Please look over here.”
She approached the window, dressed in casual clothes, in response to Vernon’s urgent words.
“Even though it’s getting dark, it’s absurd how they’re clinging together!”
“What do they…. But why does it matter?”
“No, well, it doesn’t matter, but… doesn’t it still bother you?”
“…I see.”
Through the window she was looking at, Leon and the princess were sitting together in the courtyard of the knights.
And Lucia, intently watching them.
Upon her unexpected answer, the Aces began to gather.
“Ooh! Could it be, is the captain finally aware…?”
“We need to move up the meeting time. Winter is approaching and it gets dark too soon.”
“…”
Indeed.
What she had been watching intently was the darkness falling over them.
“Ugh, it’s stifling. Not you, Nia…!”
“Quit the pointless talk and make sure you’re not late.”
With that, Lucia left.
Looking at the closed door, the Aces quickly put their heads together.
“This is serious. It looks like she’s targeting Captain Leon.”
“Exactly, it hasn’t been long since the divorce. At this rate…!”
“My money…!”
Yes.
They had started betting as soon as they sensed something between Leon and the crown prince.
While other members bet on the crown prince due to his status, the Aces all bet on Leon.
However, given how the ladylike princess was clearly making advances toward the stoic captain…
Their faces looked like they had lost their kingdoms, just like a failed investment.
Among them,
[Clap!]Vernon suddenly clapped, as if he had thought of something.
“We can’t just stand by and let this happen! I just thought of a plan. Let’s gather our side first!”
Gili and Hiss nodded at his words and rushed off.
Then, Vernon with a meaningful look, called a bird from the window and attached a note to its leg.
…
…
…
Leon’s situation was as follows.
The palace gardens, twelve fountains, the underground wine cellar, the top of the tower.
It was like being dragged around a tourist destination, and that had been going on for days until sunset.
Having spent his youth studying abroad in the Ferenel Royal Family through his father’s introduction, Leon had always been with Princess Lillif, who was a full seven years younger.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
