Delia’s feeble voice pierced into Aaron’s ears, which had turned pale white with anger.
“Commander.”
Her voice was so faint that if it weren’t for the hand she was tightly clutching, it would seem like a dream.
“It hurts…so much.”
Aaron looked down at Delia with a stiff expression.
Even as Delia was writhing in pain, she didn’t let go of the hand she was holding onto Aaron.
She clung to Aaron’s hand as if it were a lifeline.
“Sob, I feel like I’m going to die.”
The cruel princess. Delia definitely knew.
That she shouldn’t eat the snowdrop flowers.
That it would become poisonous if she ate it.
She must have known.
Even knowing that, she asked Aaron to pick the flower for her.
Knowing that she would be in such agony, she still ate the flower herself.
The flower that Aaron had picked and given her.
“Commander. It hurts…so much.”
Tears streamed down along with her whimpering voice.
“Why did you ask me to pick that?”
Aaron’s questioning voice was also soaked with moisture.
He knew the reason too.
Because Delia was a prisoner who desperately needed to escape from here.
Because she was the princess of Iorente who had to escape from the hands of the imperial army at the risk of her life.
“You should have asked me to hunt instead. I would have caught anything.”
Aaron raised his other hand.
He wiped away the flowing tears with the hand that had picked the snowdrop flower.
“I didn’t know a prisoner would be so cruel.”
He had vowed to fill her days of renunciation with beautiful moments.
But all Aaron had given her with his own hands was pain.
The cruel truth Delia had made him realize took his breath away.
“Commander, please.”
The only thing he could do for her, who pleaded so desperately, was to loosen her up.
Aaron removed a strand of golden hair stuck to her sweatdrenched face.
It was a gentle touch as if he was tending to a fragile beast.
Delia, feeling his touch, opened her eyes weakly.
Her wet eyes were directed towards Aaron, but they couldn’t capture him.
All Delia could do was to shed tears of pain and tightly hold his hand.
“There’s nothing I can do right now.”
All I can do for you now is to hold your hand.
She shouldn’t be clinging to him so desperately, trying to break away from him.
Knowing why Delia had eaten the flower, he shouldn’t let Delia go.
Everything twisted and tangled in Aaron’s mind like contradictions.
“Commander.”
The sound of Dyke calling from outside the command tent was heard.
“A man named Zer is approaching.”
Aaron’s faint order flowed out of his mouth, which couldn’t take his eyes off Delia.
“Let him in.”
Not long after Aaron’s command was issued, a man who looked like a ragged bandit stepped into the command tent.
“I’ve come to see the ceasefire.”
Zer quickly assessed the situation inside the command tent.
Zer’s stern gaze flowed towards the Princess of Iorente lying on the bed.
And to the careful touch of the commander stroking the princess, and to the hands tightly held together.
Zer, suppressing the hot surge in his chest, asked.
“What happened to the commander?”
Aaron didn’t even glance at the people who came into the command tent.
He was just continuously stroking Delia’s hair.
His touch, so careful as if her hair might break or get damaged, caused her hair to be disheveled.
“The prisoner, the princess… is in great pain.”
Each word, each word that Aaron uttered quietly was heartwrenching.
Aaron’s eyes, capturing his prisoner writhing in pain, reddened.
Aaron’s hand, tremblingly stroking her shivering back, didn’t easily fall off.
“What happened to her?”
At Zer’s question, the military officer quickly stepped forward to answer.
“She ate a snowdrop flower today, and it seems to have been poisonous.”
“A flower?”
“Yes. We need to hurry with the treatment, but the camp does not have the necessary medicine. The closest place from here is the Eorenti capital, so we should quickly take her there for treatment.”
Zer looked at Delia with a complicated expression as he listened to the military officer’s explanation.
The princess he had longed for was right before his eyes, yet her life was in a dangerous situation.
Zer clenched his fist tightly and strode towards the bed.
“I will take her.”
Aaron, who had been looking at Delia, slowly raised his head and met Zer’s eyes.
The bastard who kept trying to take what was his.
Now, he had to hand over what was his to that bastard.
Aaron’s ashy eyes flickered as he said in a low voice to Zer,
“Absolutely. You must save our princess.”
Aaron’s deep obsession seeped out in his chilling tone.
“You must save her. No matter what, I will come to retrieve her.”
Zer swallowed dryly at the commander’s creepy aura.
It felt like he was sticking his hand into the mouth of a beast.
Before he could pull his hand out, it would be ripped off in an instant.
Yet, ending it with just a low growl of a warning was probably because of the suffering princess.
“Saving the princess is what we desire more desperately.”
Zer moved with a firm expression for what he had to do.
He carefully picked up his princess in his arms.
Delia, who had been trembling in pain, instinctively buried herself in Zer’s arms.
At that sight, Aaron’s face twisted in pain.
Zer looked down at Aaron and held Delia in his arms even tighter.
How dare he look at the princess of Eorenti with such an expression.
“I hope we never see each other again.”
As Zer moved back to leave, Aaron’s hand that had been tightly holding onto Delia moved along.
“Please let her go.”
“Commander. It’s urgent.”
At the desperate words of the military officer, Aaron bit his lip tightly.
He had to stand by as they took what was his from his territory.
He had to let them go even when they were in pain and he couldn’t do anything to help.
His heart rate slowed due to the extreme feeling of powerlessness.
Aaron had to use all his strength just to release the grip on his hand.
As Aaron barely let go, Delia’s hand drooped powerlessly towards the floor.
Only after confirming that their tightly held hands had separated, did Zer turn around.
Then he moved quickly out of the barracks.
Zer’s back obstructed the view of Delia.
Yet, Aaron watched him until he was out of sight with a painfully intense gaze.
As they disappeared outside, a suffocating silence dominated the inside of the barracks.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!
This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
