The crazed commander who was watching the prisoner had fallen asleep, drunk.
This was the perfect opportunity to escape from him.
It was ten steps to the table.
If she reduced her stride to avoid making a noise, it would be twenty steps.
Delia rolled her eyes towards Aaron, who was sleeping, planning her route.
Next to the bed she was lying on, there was a chair.
The commander of the Stilets Empire had given Delia the bed as if it were a matter of course.
Then, he buried himself deep in the chair, which looked uncomfortable at a glance, and fell asleep.
After confirming Aaron’s chest was rising and falling rhythmically, Delia quietly got up.
The sound of the rough blanket sliding down seemed louder than the sound of her heart pounding in her ears.

Startled, Delia turned her eyes to check, but fortunately, Aaron was asleep, leaning against the back of the chair.
Would he want to keep me under surveillance even if he had to sleep uncomfortably like that?
But that was the commander’s problem.
Delia’s task was to kill the commander and escape.
With a firm resolve, Delia cautiously extended her leg out of the bed.
She wanted to swallow her dry spit, but she held back, fearing it would make a noise.
The moment her small foot touched the floor.
Delia looked up at Aaron.
He was still breathing regularly, his eyes closed.
Unlike Delia, who was extremely tense, a languid peace seeped from his breath.

Quietly getting up, Delia put strength in her toes and took a step.
She had checked before falling asleep.
The commander had laid confidential documents, knives, and a gun on the table, which she had seen clearly with her own two eyes.
Even a letter about the situation at the Kabat Plains.
All of it beckoned Delia.
‘Come take me.’
It was a breathtaking, fatal temptation.
If she could only get over the siege laid by that commander, it seemed within reach.
Delia moved her feet carefully so as not to touch Aaron’s body.
She inhaled deeply to keep her breath steady.

He simply continued to breathe regularly, seemingly unaware of Delia’s movements.
He seemed to be in a deep sleep, unaware of Delia’s movements.
Phew.
It was only when she got close to the table that Delia exhaled a thin breath.
The confidential documents scattered all over the table.
Knives and weapons emitting an ominous aura even in the dark.
A rifle that made a noise as big as its power.
What should she take first?
What should she do first?
After a moment of contemplation, Delia decided on the order of her tasks.

First, she would kill the commander quietly with a knife.
Then she would take the confidential documents and escape into the darkness.
The gun that made a big noise should be kept as a last resort as it could attract the attention of the soldiers outside.
Having made a quick decision, Delia reached out for the knives and knives.
As her hand touched the knife, a tingling current ran through her fingertips.
The hard and cold touch of the knife pierced through her body.
Recalling her purpose, Delia gripped the weapon tightly.
She turned around and approached behind Aaron.
It was a quiet but nimble movement.
Even in the dark, her silver hair gleamed temptingly.

The sound of his heartbeat she had felt during the day seemed to ring in her ears.
If she could stop his heart, the course of this war might change.
With the Empire’s information on the Capat Plains, she would have an advantage in the turn.
Perhaps being a prisoner was an opportunity.
Like the women of the ancient kingdom who jumped into enemy lines, lured the enemy commander, and cut off his head.
Delia brought the knife closer to the commander’s neck, gripping it carefully.
Her heart seemed to throb at her fingertips holding the knife.
Just as she was about to apply pressure to the knife.
Her wrist was caught by a strong force.
Gasp.

Startled, Delia’s harsh breath shook the quiet tent.
Without a moment to react, she lost her balance due to the force applied to her wrist.
By the time she came to her senses, she had been dragged to the commander and was sitting on his leg.
“It seems a bit late for exercise, doesn’t it?”
Aaron’s eyes sparkled vividly in the darkness, like a beast roaming the forest at night.
His silver gaze was driven into her heart, which felt as though it would stop.
It was then that Delia, who finally grasped the situation, asked with a trembling voice.
“Weren’t you asleep?”
Aaron, looking at the prisoner who was dragged before him and couldn’t move a muscle, gave a small smile.
One hand held the hand with the knife, the other wrapped around her waist.

He had ensnared the assassin who dared to kill the commander of the Empire, rendering her immobile.
“There’s no way. How could I sleep when I’ve caught something so interesting?”
“But, but you were asleep.”
Delia blinked her eyes in disbelief at the situation she found herself in.
Even as she was moving past him, even just before she stabbed him with the knife, she had checked.
The strong smell of alcohol seeping from his breath.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
