“Princess, where are you?”
The moist sound of sharing a secret breath in the darkness was cut off by the maid’s desperate cry.
The urgent footsteps of the maids echoed through the corridor.
“Big trouble. Where on earth did she go?”
“I’ll check this way.”
At the noisy voices of the maids resonating in the previously quiet corridor, Aaron furrowed his brow.
The lips that had been deeply connected as if they would never part finally separated with difficulty.
Delia’s lips swelled up and turned a reddish hue.
Aaron gently wiped her lips with his thumb, muttering.
“You really don’t give me a chance, even for a moment.”
Eyes clouded with the heat, cheeks blushing like peaches, and even the strands of hair tousled along his touch.
To have to gently send away such a tempting princess.
With a sense of injustice, Aaron kissed Delia’s round forehead.
Arranging the disheveled hem of Delia’s clothing neatly, he whispered in a low voice.
“I’ll take care of the Council, so don’t worry.”
Aaron’s moist voice seeped into Delia’s drowsy ears.
It felt like something important was missed.
Suddenly feeling uneasy, Delia blinked as she looked at Aaron.
“Commander.”
In the gradually clearing blue vision, Aaron’s mischievous smile was reflected.
“Yeah? What is it?”
The moment Delia met Aaron’s smile, she realized her serious mistake.
To worry about the Supreme Commander who held everything in Ioventi.
To worry about a fierce wolf while releasing it into the sheep’s pen.
Her oversight of Aaron’s anxious appearance today was a mistake.
“No way…”
With a trembling voice, Delia quietly asked Aaron.
“You’re not planning to kill the Council members, are you?”
Aaron couldn’t find the right words to answer Delia’s question.
Listening to unimportant conversations through her back, he quickly moved his hand.
As if not wanting to send the princess away with such an appearance, Aaron neatly fixed Delia’s disheveled bangs and quickly tied the loose ribbon.
“Commander, are you planning to kill the members of the Council?”
Aaron answered dryly while straightening the crumpled edge of his jacket.
“Not going to kill.”
“If things don’t go your way, don’t kill them. Absolutely not.”
Aaron swept his hand to tidy the disheveled hair, grumbling softly.
“Next time, maybe I shouldn’t touch your hair.”
More anxious due to his grumbling, Delia quickly whispered.
“That’s not important right now.”
“To me, hair is important.”
“Commander, remember what I said? Don’t bring weapons into the meeting room, and don’t bring the army.”
“How do you see me? Don’t worry about such things.”
As Aaron whispered not to worry, a huge wave of concern flooded Delia’s ears, drenched in worry.
As Delia’s ears were soaked with worries, the voice of the queen echoed.
“Where on earth is the princess? I told you not to take your eyes off her for even a moment.”
“Her actions are just so fast.”
“Find her right away.”
Unlike the usual calm, the queen’s voice was tense.
If she were to be caught with the Supreme Commander like this, the queen would be even more worried.
Startled, Delia pushed Aaron away with an urgent touch.
The firm embrace that confined Delia opened smoothly.
“Mother.”
Delia escaped from the shadow of the stairs into the light.
The moment she put her foot on the stairs to climb up.
Delia, standing in the pouring light, glanced briefly at Aaron in the darkness.
Leaning against the wall, Aaron gently curved his eyes and smiled.
Fixing his gaze on Delia, Aaron brought his straight index finger close to his red lips.
As if telling a secret, he whispered.
Shh.
“Delia.”
Even in the darkness, the queen’s voice penetrated Delia, who was gazing blankly at the sparkling Aaron.
“What are you doing there?”
Delia quickly averted her gaze from him and climbed the stairs.
“Mother, she dropped her brooch when returning from the audience chamber.”
“Did you find the brooch? If not, call someone to—”
“No, I found it. Mother.”
“Thank goodness.”
“Yeah. So, let’s go back quickly.”
Delia grabbed the queen’s arm and glanced down.
He left traces that still lingered on her lips, heating up, yet he disappeared somewhere.
Delia, feeling uneasy, absentmindedly pressed her lips with her fingers.
The stairs, which had witnessed everything, seemed to be silently maintaining their silence, oblivious to everything.
Soft light filled the space, sparkling dazzlingly.
In the center of the grand hall of Ioventi, there was an elegant round table made of wood.
It symbolized Ioventi, where the nation’s affairs were decided through free discussions.
On the table were the chairs of the 12 families that appear in Ioventi’s founding myth.
It was the seats of the leaders of the 11 families, centered around the king.
Except for the vacant seat of the ailing Revolant, every family was present in their designated places.
However, strangely, there was a heavy silence in the meeting room, as if no one was there.
The aftermath of the war still weighed heavily in the council chamber.
When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
