My Husband Was Stolen Twice (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
Doana wanted to whisper right into Roje’s ear at that very moment.
She wanted to tell her that the man who said she was a good person was actually spending every night with her—holding her close and whispering words of love.
Roje paused, noticing the twitching expression on Doana’s face.
Her chin was slightly lifted, the corners of her mouth quirking upward. Her eyes curved playfully…
It was the very same expression Gyeo Ru used to make toward Byeol Ha.
Gyeo Ru’s face overlapped with Doana’s in Roje’s vision.
‘…So that’s why you used to make that expression so often.’
Roje let out a hollow laugh at this realization, something she’d been completely unaware of back then.
She had always thought that expression simply meant Gyeo Ru was in a good mood.
But now, knowing everything, it was clearly a look of smug superiority—knowing she’d been secretly coveting Roje’s husband.
Roje couldn’t care less whether the male protagonist of the novel clung to Doana or not. She felt no attraction toward Eric whatsoever; after all, the heroine’s position was nothing more than a thorny path—neither more nor less.
She was only irritated by Doana’s repetitive behavior.
‘Just what on earth did you ever see in a woman like this? Why… why did you marry me?’
She couldn’t understand it.
If only he’d broken up with her before their marriage and gone to Gyeo Ru instead, she wouldn’t have been hurt this deeply…
Thinking of Lee Do Hyun—the man she’d believed without a doubt would spend his whole life with her—made her chest ache sharply.
She’d always lived believing that, if anyone else might betray her, her boyfriend, her husband, never would.
During their courtship, he had been kinder and more considerate than anyone else. They’d been the perfect couple everyone envied.
“Roje?”
Seeing Roje staring blankly at her, Doana called out her name, puzzled. Only then did Roje open her mouth toward Doana.
“Oh. Your earrings are just so pretty—I was looking closely.”
“Right? Isn’t it amazing how perfectly they match my taste?”
At Roje’s words, Doana beamed widely, showing off her white teeth. She seemed thrilled by Roje’s apparent envy, repeatedly touching her ears.
“But how did you meet your boyfriend?”
Roje looked at Doana, carefully hiding the chill in her eyes. Doana, satisfied by Roje’s curiosity about her boyfriend, answered in a bright, cheerful voice.
“I guess you could say it was fate that drew us together?”
Doana didn’t explain exactly how they’d met—she simply declared their meeting had been destiny.
“I just… love everything about him. Honestly, he’s perfect.”
Then she narrowed her eyes into crescent moons and glanced sideways at Roje. Though she was currently dressed as a maid due to the many onlookers…
‘That position is mine, Roje.’
Doana revealed her dark intentions with a sharp, knowing smile. In truth, she’d already secured the role of mistress. But being a mere mistress would never satisfy Doana.
Right now, she was captivating Eric’s heart and playing the concubine—but that was all it was. No fancy dresses, no luxurious lifestyle—just nights spent together.
When she’d once said she wanted to wear glamorous gowns like Roje’s, Eric had only told her to wait—that when the time came, he’d give her everything.
Though his words didn’t particularly please her, she had her own plans—specifically, how to seize the title of countess.
‘I thought my life was over, trapped by a man like Lee Do Hyun.’
Doana smiled faintly as she surveyed Roje’s lavishly decorated room.
Who could have predicted that someone of her near-wealthy status would end up disowned by her parents and living in poverty after choosing the wrong man?
‘How dare he get me pregnant when I had nothing to my name?’
It had been an unwanted pregnancy. She’d planned to simply enjoy thrills with various men and eventually arrange a strategic marriage with someone suited to her level.
‘I should’ve just run away back then.’
Instead, like a fool, her heart softened, and she married Lee Do Hyun. Part of her had even wanted to see Byeol Ha’s pitiful face—always whining despite having nothing—twist in despair…
Her parents, shocked that their daughter had stolen a friend’s husband, threw her out without giving her a single penny.
‘Being reincarnated into this novel must be a gift from the gods—a chance for me, Lee Gyeo Ru, to finally live the life I deserve.’
Doana clicked forward in her high heels, stepping one pace closer to Roje. She scanned Roje’s face—the girl who gazed back at her with the naive innocence of a country bumpkin.
‘I heard Roje already suffered a miscarriage once. They say she hasn’t been able to conceive in three years.’
Eric already sought only her every night—showing no intention whatsoever of returning to Roje.
‘Heh… I’ll make sure you never get another chance to conceive.’
Convinced the game’s winner had already been decided, Doana sneered inwardly at Roje. Roje, watching Doana giggle right in front of her, frowned slightly.
‘How could I have been so blind all this time?’
To have considered such a transparent girl a friend—her past self suddenly seemed embarrassingly foolish.

Unaware that Roje had seen straight through her, Doana remained lost in her sense of superiority.
Just then, a servant knocked on Roje’s door.
Knock knock.
“My lady.”
“Come in.”
As soon as Roje finished speaking, the servant carefully opened the door and entered. He was taken aback to find Doana in Roje’s room.
‘She really is shameless.’
To openly continue her affair while mocking Roje, who knew nothing—it was disgraceful. He shot Doana a sharp glare before bowing respectfully to Roje.
“A letter of invitation has arrived for you, my lady.”
“An invitation?”
Roje tilted her head in confusion at the servant’s words. That was odd. In the novel, Roje had never received any invitations or attended such events.
‘Am I forgetting something? Roje was clearly portrayed as a social outcast—never interacting with anyone, fixated solely on Eric.’
“Oh, what’s that?”
Before Roje could even take the invitation from the servant, Doana snatched it up. She instantly felt the servant’s disapproving gaze upon her.
‘How dare you look at me like that? Once I become countess, you’ll be the first one fired.’
Aiming to show off her newfound arrogance as though she were already countess, Doana shot the servant a haughty glance and began reading the invitation aloud.
“You are cordially invited to a banquet held ten days from now.”
Roje’s eyes widened at Doana’s words.
“What is this?”
Doana waved the invitation excitedly, utterly intrigued.
“It’s inviting me to a banquet.”
“A banquet? What do people even do there?”
“You just dress up nicely and mingle, making social connections.”
‘Dressing up nicely’ probably meant wearing a dress like the one Roje had on. Doana couldn’t hide her smile as she pictured herself in such a gown.
She was certain that, even at that banquet, she would be the most beautiful woman there.
“That sounds fun! Let me come with you!”
Roje found Doana’s eagerness—as if she’d already secured a spot—utterly ridiculous, since Roje had never intended to take her. Speaking gently, as if soothing a child, she replied,
“I’m so sorry.”
“Huh? What for?”
“You can’t come.”
“Why not?”
Doana’s expression hardened abruptly at the unexpected reply. She’d assumed she’d be allowed to go—never expecting Roje to say ‘no.’
After a brief stunned pause, Doana cleared her throat and spoke softly to Roje.
“What’s the point of having a good friend if not to use her in times like this?”
Speaking as if granting a favor, she continued toward Roje.
“I’ll go with you. Someone as timid as you could never approach strangers on your own… I’m worried you’d just waste the whole evening alone in a corner.”
Her voice was gentle, but her words were laced with thorns. She gently grasped Roje’s shoulder as she spoke.
“You’ll be better off coming with me. Unlike you, I can easily become friendly with people I’ve just met.”
Roje found Doana’s insistence on attending the banquet with her utterly absurd—especially since she kept subtly belittling Roje without hesitation. Roje barely managed to suppress a laugh.
“I’m sorry. I’d love to, but this party is for invited guests only.”
“Can’t you just say I’m your friend and bring me along?”
“Well, you could come with me, but…”
Roje trailed off, looking straight at Doana.
“Only nobles are allowed to attend. Servants aren’t permitted.”
“What…?”
Roje expressed her regret toward Doana.
“You’d only be turned away at the door… Oh! Unless you’d like to come as my maid? You could enter the banquet if you serve as my attendant.”
With an utterly innocent, guileless expression—as if she held no malice whatsoever—Roje’s attitude made Doana frown irritably.
‘A maid? How dare she ask someone who will soon be countess to serve her?’
She’d go to receive honors—not as a servant.

“You’re not… upset, are you? I only said it because I was thinking of you.”
Roje lightly covered her mouth with one hand and peered cautiously at Doana, emphasizing her lack of ill intent.
As the saying goes, even a dog at a village school learns poetry after three years.
Roje found it almost comical that she could now mimic Doana’s behavior perfectly—her once-bear-like self now imitating a fox.
“Upset?… I’m just disappointed.”
Unable to say anything further in response to Roje’s actions, Doana could only offer a cold, stiff smile.
‘Unlucky little wretch.’
Doana swallowed the insult she couldn’t voice aloud.
Though strong toward the weak, Doana was utterly powerless before the strong. Since she needed to extract information from Roje, she had no choice but to flatter her.
Roje gave Doana a bright, sweet smile and took the invitation from her hand.
‘Let’s see who sent this invitation.’
Roje slowly read through the invitation. She already knew the content from Doana’s earlier reading—it was for ten days from now, at 6 p.m….
“…Huh?”
As Roje checked the sender, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The very man who, in the original story, had never even laid eyes on her, had sent her an invitation.
“Why would he… send this to me?”
Remembering his face from their recent meeting, Roje swallowed hard. It seemed her encounter with him wouldn’t end after just one meeting.
“Grand Duke Arteum…”
The invitation had come from Grand Duke Arteum, whom she’d met at the auction house.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
